Wow did I ever sleep in this morning, woke up at 6 am ! 90 minutes later than usual, guess I needed that extra sleep.
|
we had this Roadrunner hang out most of the afternoon |
We not only love this area but the weather gods have given us a forecast of perfect weather so
WHY NOT just hang out here for a bit in Why ?
|
excellent weather for the next week this is the closest weather station |
Before I did my first walkabout at 8 am. I put the chicken bones on from last night to simmer into a nice broth. Got another mile done by 8:30 and said good bye to
Deb and Riley as they were leaving the dump station, safe travels guys.
|
love walking these quiet roads through here |
Then about 9am I headed into Ajo for a few groceries and home shortly after 10. Finished up prepping the soup so it would done in time for lunch. It was getting very warm with this intense sun so our awning was opened for a while, but then we had east winds at 15 mph hitting it dead on. So then it was rolled up again after lunch. Don't need to loose another awning.
|
lots of murals around town |
Stopped at Olsens for a few groceries and then the square in town to check out the Saturday market, Nothing here that we need just a few crafts etc.. but did enjoy walking on the soft green grass (rare here in the desert) Almost reminds me of Christmas Circle in Borrego Springs
|
green grass and palm trees, nice |
Quite a few vendors here took me all of 5 minutes to see nothing that would interest us.
|
nice woodwork |
|
the band was pretty good too. |
Back home to finish the soup and enjoy a nice tasty lunch.
|
we do love homemade soup especially Chicken noodle |
Soon after lunch and another walkabout we enjoyed reading outside. so quiet and relaxing here.
|
our closest neighbour now after a couple of rigs left |
|
because of the hot sun we sat in the shade and is kinda cool |
I went for a walkabout and found Suzie had company. This roadrunner was under the coach and right beside her.
|
not afraid of us at all |
|
this guy hung around for a good 15 minutes just loved watching this roadrunner |
Looks to me like people have been feeding him, something that you should never do, not afraid of us at all.
|
looking at me, "you got food?" I threw a couple of stones and he ran right to them |
|
just kept coming closer looking for a handout sorry buddy wrong place |
A bit later I headed in to begin prepping supper. Chat with Deb and Riley yesterday they do a spaghetti squash and I tired their suggestion, So 1/8 of the squash added a bit of butter, Italian spice and parmesan cheese wrapped in foil for the BBQ.
Then I wrapped 3 potatoes in foil (2 for supper one for later) fresh mushrooms and onions in foil and then prepare a nice Porterhouse steak I found on sale at Olsons. I don't eat much beef but Suzie loves it . She got the fillet and I enjoyed the rest. Very tasty and a wonderful treat for sure.
|
not long and a wonderful tasty supper. |
|
baked Tater, spaghetti squash , steak with mushrooms and onions, an excellent meal for the 2 of us under 10 bucks including wine |
|
late afternoon was overcast did not look like we would get a sunset |
|
but we did , not great but still there |
We enjoyed this day just like we most every day, sunshine, warm weather, hanging out with our best friends (each other) reading and a couple of tasty meals. This is the life.
Glad that y';all stopped on by and hope your day was wonderful as well.
Want to learn more about Membership camping
at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this winter ?
George have you and Suzie seen any burro's around your camp site?
ReplyDeleteWe have heard them and seen their hoof prints but have not seen any yet, we saw some last spring here though.
DeleteLooks like you are going to have a lot more good weather ahead. The desert is great place to enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteThe weather forecast is perfect and we will enjoy it for sure, Yes Dizzy we do love the desert.
DeleteThat seems like a place I would enjoy. With the facilities you have the price is very fair it seems to me.
ReplyDeleteYou probably would Barney, but don't think there is much fishing around here.
DeleteLooks like some nice weather. It is 44F here in South Florida this AM
ReplyDeleteLoving the weather here, Larry, no complaints.
DeleteI just love the roadrunners and was going to say he looks pretty well fed! I know you're not supposed to feed them, but it's hard to resist for most people.
ReplyDeleteHe does look well fed, and definitely not afraid of people, But feeding them can also kill them, so we did not do it.
DeleteYou always eat so well. Had someone arrive yesterday for 3 weeks, they are renting an RV here. They were here in their RV ( row 4 first site next to the entrance, just behind us in row 3 ) the same year they were. They remembered you by your vest :). Pete and Michelle from Northern Alberta.
ReplyDeleteWe do like to eat well, especially when I can cooke it myself and and get good deals on food. For a fraction of the prices in restaurants for for a meal I can cook just as well or better.
DeleteSay high to Pete and Michelle for us that was 7 years ago we were there.
Actually it was 9 winters ago in 2009. It was the only year that we were in RV2 and you were down the row from us. It was after chatting with you ( and Larry ) that winter that I started my blog in the spring of 2010. Life is passing us by faster than we think.
DeleteLooks like a great forecast and a wonderful supper. Did the squash turn out soft?
ReplyDeleteYes Peter the forecast is excellent, and yes the squash was done perfectly, soft and tasty.
DeleteIt is such a shame when people feed the wildlife. I know it's hard not too but sure in their best interests. Your lunch sure looked tasty today! OH and dinner made me want steak for breakfast, looked to good!
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame when people do that, they feel sorry t]for them , but it is not in the animal's best interest.
DeleteLunch was tasty as was the dinner. maybe steak and eggs for breakfast?
Another great day in a place you love.
ReplyDeleteSupper looks great, I would definitely have leftover steak though. :)
That road runner thinks he is part of the family by now.
It was a wonderful day, no left over, the bone was huge and a bit of grizzle on the edge we cleaned it up! Just right.
DeleteIt appears the roadrunner wants to move in and travel with us! lol...
The best part of this life is hanging with your bestie everyday! Love those Roadrunners, haven't seen any out here.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Katie we do enjoy our time together. lots of roadrunners here in this part of the desert.
DeleteDesert life seems awesome, the silence must be bliss. Another great dinner!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, dinner was great and like you said the silence is bliss !
DeleteWe watched a roadrunner ambush and kill a rabbit in Palm Springs a couple of years ago. They are vicious! Nice weather you are having there, snow in Texas and Northern Mexico. Our friends Brian and Sue have been stranded on the side of the road in Mexico south of Laredo for two nights now. No worries though, lots of gas, food, blankets...
ReplyDeleteYes they are very vicious would not want to tangle with one.
DeleteWe are having excellent weather, no complaints here. Being stuck in a snow storm is no fun, been there done that. You do need to be prepared for anything with this lifestyle.
That forecast sure loks different from the one here! We have all this white stuff forecast all week.
ReplyDeleteYes it sure does that's why we here don't much care for that white stuff if we can avoid it.
DeleteYou sure are having some nice weather!! It's been very cold here lately...ready for that southern weather to return!!
ReplyDeleteThat Roadrunner looks like he's found a new friend!! Very cute!!
We are enjoying this weather that we usually get here in the southwest, Good luck with your weather there, not so good right now.
DeleteThese Roadrunners are cute but can be very vicious.
Squash looked excellent!! We like it that way. The roadrunner is funny. We had one hanging around at EB, he almost wanted to go in the Igloo. He wasn't easily frightened away. A shame people can't resist feeding them. Keep on enjoying that wonderful place!
