Where are we today ?

Much milder last night but with the low elevation and we in California about right on the money. I think the lowest was 58f (14c) overnight, very comfy with a couple of windows open.Today was forecast to be windy and yep the weather gods go it right, North wind with gusts to 25 mph from the northwest right along out patio. And only got to 60f (15c) but much cooler in the wind. I missed the sunrise this morning mainly because of the trees in the east side of our coach. I need to pay more attention to that and get my walkabout earlier.
I did get a couple of nice walkabouts the resort and maybe would have done more if not for the cool wind.
No problem we found sunshine in front of our coach as a windbreak and was quite comfortable, Need our sweat pants and hoodies on but not a problem we outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, indulged in our e-readers.
this is the area we camped at this time last year, almost full 6 couples here (our friends from Ontario) pretty quiet right now. |
Then I headed into Yuma for some supplies and pick up a package I had order on line to be delivered to the Walmart here. A camping Table to replace our broken one. They were $13.00 and on sale for $10.00 and free delivery to the store of our choice. Ordered on Monday and was delivered today . a week early but no problem, Was shopping there anyway so not an issue. The pickup was quick and easy, no lineup and the lady timed it 2 minutes 28 seconds to fill the order. Now that is service ! Got our supplies and spotted Turkeys on sale .68 cents a lb. Now I can't turn down a deal like that. This is a 10.48 b turkey only $7.13 works for us, not a problem we do love poultry of any kind.
now this was a great deal |
our new table, and we bought 2 , really like with 2 drink holders plus a pocket on the side, folds up nicely into a bag for storage |
Bill and Patsy right across from us |
The wind bother's Suzie;s ears so her hoody was up and Clemson sniggled in nicely. |
our cupboard door again has cracked with only 10% humidity it does this every year, back in Ontario you can't see the crack at all. |
Pilot Knob in the distance |
nice quiet area by the washrooms and laundry |
nice compact travel unit this is |
we spent most of the afternoon right here perfect! |
my old crock pot still does the job even after 10 years use everyday in my restaurant |
not much left but we cleaned it up |
this sure did the trick and o course leftovers |
Just as we were sitting down for supper the California desert treated us with another very nice sunset.
love these desert sunsets |
We received sad news today a wonderful blogger passed away from a lengthy illness. We met her a few times over the Years. At Roadrunner in Quartzite with Jean and Skip, Pilot Knob BLM. had her over for supper etc.. Last time we saw her she was at Blogger Fest in 2016, Denise known as Sassy's On 'Da Road on the road. Drive her class A motorhome tow hauler with her beautiful blue Harley in the back . Man could she handle that bike. I borrowed this picture from Al's Blog (the Bayfield Bunch). I don't think he will mind.
R.I.P Denise for ever in our thoughts |

Where have we been this winter ?
A nice day for the Solstice, some call this the first day of winter ... but here in SoCal it's just another Thursday. Good looking Crock Suzie created for dinner.
ReplyDeleteIt is Thursday here as well ( we in California now too) and now the days start getting longer!
DeleteThat's my guess on the truck, 1936 Ford.
ReplyDeleteSorry Bill the other Bill got it write git it write he has retired many of these Model R's
DeleteIt seems the wind was with us all today. A friend in Kingman mentioned it also. Nice sunset picture and your dinner looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks Guys lotsa wind here hope you travelled safely.
DeleteOh bummer. Such a tough lady she was. I read her blog a few years ago as well when I had time to read a lot more blogs. Sigh. As Mark said recently, the last turnstile waits for all of us. geez.
ReplyDeleteDenise really was a special lady, and you probably met here at Blogger Fest fest when you were there. So right about the turnstile it does wait for all of us we will all pass that way.
DeleteRadiator shell identifies it as a 1930. The tie bar was generally black. 1930 and 1931 were very close. The instrument panel would also help identify.
ReplyDelete1930 Model A.
DeleteRight on thanks Bill If anyone knew for sure it would be you.
DeleteSad and shocked to hear about Sassy. I followed her blog for some time, but did notice she hadn't posted in the past couple years. Didn't realize she wasn't well, just thought she had gotten tired of blogging. Very, very sad.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad but she was not well for the last couple of years.
DeleteYes, we will all miss Denise. At least we can say her suffering is behind her.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the RV park at Pilot Knob so empty as in your pictures. However, I am sure that will change once January rolls around.
It usually gets busy here right after Christmas at least it has in the past. A lot less people now that they do not take the ROD membership. New owners cleaning up the park and less seasonal trailers.
DeleteWhat? I used to follow Denise and her little dog Bennie. She stopped blogging, and then one begins to wonder. Such sad news. Thanks for passing it along. It's a curious thing that, at least speaking for myself, I feel a sense of loss when I hear of someone passing whom I had only encountered on the net. Rod Ivers comes to mind....
ReplyDeleteShe was a such super person, a real character to meet her in person. It is sad but she has not been well since Bennie's passing, Chatted with both Denise and Rod at that same Bloggerfest. Rod visited us twice as well lots of great stories.
DeleteI hadn't thought about the desert areas cracking the cabinetry but make perfect sense. Supper looks great, especially with lots of gravy. Sorry about the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteIt just cracks this one cupboard that I repaired many years ago, Everything els is fine, Yes the air is dry in the desert.
DeleteThanks for posting a picture of the Ozark Trail side table. I ordered one after seeing it on your blog. They are $9 now on clearance.
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong!
May you have a blessed Christmas.
Karen
We like ours and can't go wrong for the price.Merry Christmas to you as well.
DeleteNice and mild here in eastern Texas, 7am and I am in shorts and a tank top. Unfortunately this won't last for long.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Denise's passing.
www.travelwithkevinandruth.com
Most days I had been in shorts too, except yesterday the chilly wind I wanted to cover up. Enjoy the heat who;you can.
DeleteDenise was a very special lady.
Your weather looks awesome to us today..7 degrees this morning here..wish the cold would have waited until we leave in Jan. Oh well. Sorry to here about Sassy..used to enjoy her blog..never met her but liked her spirit. Love your dinner! Your gravy looks awesome !
ReplyDeleteSoon you will be out of there for warmer climates. Sassy was a Character for sure. Dinner yummy pork roast and homemade gravy sure hit the spot.
DeleteSorry to hear about Sassy/Denise. I used to read her blog, loved the pics of Bennie in the carrier on the back of her bike.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found another table. Looks good, we may have to think about getting one of those. The place looks empty, not like your pics of other years. It was too cold to be outside here, the wind found every crack and crevice and blew steady all day. Dinner looks excellent. Enjoy the warmth.
Yes it is sad but she is no longer suffering. Bennie was a cute dog and load to ride with her.
DeleteThis is a nice handy table glad we got it too and the price was right. It is quieter this year, but a lot of the older regular season people are not here. There is a time when eventually people stop rving, usually health reasons and change of park ownership and rates.
Nice post today, George. I appreciate you getting out and getting the most out of the day for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about Sassy even though I didn't know her. I can tell by the way you all speak of her that she was a very special friend and that is always sad.
Dinner looks wonderful! Suzie got her crock pot pork and gravy! Yay!
Thanks Patsy, even if you did not get out we enjoyed it for you , no problem.
DeleteSassy was one special lady for sure.
And Suzie sure did enjoy here crock pot pork and homemade gravy,(me too) was very tasty.
Thank you for sharing the news about Denise. I wondered what had happened to her once she stopped posting. We just have to keep trying to live each day to the fullest. We have no control over our future.
ReplyDeleteVery nice table you got for a good price.
Your welcome Contessa. We knew she was not well it was only a matter of time. Like you said we need to live every day to the fullest, life is too short.
DeleteWe do like this table and the price, excellent!
Just goes to show that Ford trucks last and last and last! :c)
ReplyDeleteYes they sure do they are amazing especially the older ones!
DeleteAnd as always, your picture of the food makes me hungry even if I have just eaten.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dizzy it sure was tasty.
DeleteThat was really sad news about Sassy passing away. We camped together at Q=site. We are in shock.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad she was such a character and fun t be around. Such a young woman too it is sad.
