A day trip to Oak Glen California, up in the mountains.

Where are we today ?
Cherry Valley Lakes Resort, Beaumont California
As the usual we are up early, watched Canada  win the gold metal in hockey  as we expected, and it was an amazing game!!
Then shortly after  8 am  whipped over to the clubhouse for  a fresh baked cinnamon roll  and orange juice only a buck, good deal!
we shared this bun for breaky
Then we went for a nice short country drive to Oak Glen California and wandered about Oak Tree Village.  Maybe too early when we got there at 10 am. It was pretty quite. But it was a  scenic drive up to an elevation of 5,200 feet. We did a nice walkabout and enjoyed this tourist area, glad there was no  crowds this early in the morning .

wonderful drive

We were kinda disappointed with the village but still have nice scenic drive into the ,mountains here. Guess we were off season.
Soon back home we had tooo much fun. A bite for lunch and enjoy our books in the shade.
too hot in the sun
Picked up a nice  pork shoulder picnic roast  for .99 cents lb so gonna slow cook and smoke it on our Weber Q. Trivet, apple wood chips, low and slow, 4 hours and it was done to perfection!
The sweet potatoes done on our Q too. Sweet Potatoes and Apples on the grill click HERE or check my recipe blog, Last couple minutes grilled the fresh asparagus and we had a feast!
Added some sweet potatoes, with apple and cinnamon,
fresh asparagus too
sure hit the spot and lotsa leftovers too
Did we do much today? As much as we wanted, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Hope you did the same thing too.
Glad you could stop by for a visit.

    1. Thanks Teresa, the road was a nice drive in the car, not so much in the motorhome.
The Weber is an amazing grill, it does the cooking for you.

  4. I love those curves while driving the Miata, but do not like them when in the motorhome! Your dinner looks wonderful, especially the potato and asparagus.

  5. It was a Sunday, too. I'm not sure, but the village probably doesn't open until about 11:00? Yes, this is their off season. They are crowded in the fall. Beautiful country, though...glad you got to visit it. We take the grandson up there often.

  6. I'm with Nan. Don't much liking mountain curves in the motorhome.

Every time you show a picture of your asparagus, I get the hungries for some and you've done it again!!

    1. Mountains and motorhomes are nice separately but not together.
Gotta love asparagus, especially when we can get it almost year round here.

  10. Too bad it wasn't a little more exciting in the village. However, being able to wander around without the crowds would make me happy. A nice little jaunt with the rest of your day just like you want it.
