College of the Desert Street Fair (COD) was a very nice outing.

Where are we today ?
Perfect weather again, 65f at 5 am and getting warmer, how can you beat that?           We headed out to the College of the Desert Street Fair (COD) this morning shortly after 9 am. It been a couple of years since we have been there and with perfect weather a great outing.
Free parking and a free shuttle from the parking areas and look around people watching mostly. Almost everything here is too expensive, (Palm Springs ya know) but we had fun walking about in the shade checking out all the stuff we don't need.
one of many FREE shuttles available
We began walking probably a couple miles by the time we were done with over 300 vendors here. New this year is all the shade they have under these roofs. AND the roofs are created from solar panels, impressive to say the least.
entertainment here and there
everything you need if you want to pay the price
this young lady, sleeveless short dress and high boots
food court
propane fire pits
fresh produce
we did pick up some very nice cauliflower and asparagus
for a good price
live enteratinment in the food court was fun
Lots of food choices here, whatever you want to eat. We choose to head back home, we have lots food there.
Coffee vendor with a Canadian flag,
but no "Tim Hortons Coffee " !

Back on the "free" trolley about 8 blocks to our car
We had a nice outing, more local stuff and lotsa walking. Did not buy anything other some consumable fresh produce, just the way we like it. What do we need?
After lunch a nice walkabout the resort and time my haircut. So clippers out and go all over my beard and hair, then Suzie did the final trimming. No more hat head!
nice red flowers in bloom
then with such a hot day a nice soft ice cream by the pool
only $1.00 each, hit the spot
Now a bit more reading in the shade makes for a perfect afternoon. Soon time fire up our Weber Q, grill with some sweet potatoes, apple and cinnamon in foil.  Recipe on my recipe blog or click HERE. Added some tender sweet asparagus, sprayed with olive oil and a dash of sea salt. Only grill a couple minutes to warm it up.
sure hit the spot tonight
Dinner done, garbage gone, a walkabout by the pool all nicely lit up a night. Such a beautiful warm evening.
the pool and hot tub look so nice and lit up
Another fun day here in Southern California.
Thanks for stopping by to join us, and if you can find us don't be afraid to stop on by. Oh, forgot to tell you are we relocating down the road in the morning to Desert Pools resort for a few days.

  1. Sounds like a great day, we were at the Art Fair in La Quinta, fun but hot and crowded.

  2. Those Saturday markets sure are fun. We enjoy walking through them even though we rarely find much we can't live without.

  5. Looks like a fun day... and the food looks so fresh. I priced asparagus at our local grocery here and I figured about 10 spears would cost over $8.00.... didn't look all the fresh either.

    1. A very clean= upscale market, most things expensive, but the produce was reasonable.

  7. We haven't made it to the COD yet this year. After seeing all the pics in your blog maybe we won't have to now! It can sure get hot over there on that pavement.

    1. The COD has not changed much over the years and was not really too hot with all the shade from the solar roof.

  8. Seeing the young lady in boots made me chuckle. The short sleeves made sense, but boots?
I've seen women wear their boots in some crazy places. How about San Juan, PR when it's about 90 out? Or Vienna, Austria in the summer. Just about as hot. It somehow always gets my attention.
But hey, gotta have that fashion statement I guess.

  10. That looks like a very nice produce stand. We just got back from one here, and now I think I'll have to go back and pick up some asparagus, since now I'm hungry for some.

I think those red flowers are bougainvillea....pretty but with nasty spikes.

  11. I don't like that street fair. Stuff is too expensive. I'd rather find a nice yard sale. We only live a couple of blocks away and I NEVER go to it anymore...oh, well. We're heading over to Joshua Tree National Park today. Enjoy your time in our desert!

    1. You are right stuff is too expensive and we would no go either if we lived close by.
You might come across Bloggers at Joshua Tree (A life Made Simple) the Wood Clan, Derek, tersa and their you daughter Cassia, in a van towing a small trailer. If you see them stop and say Hi for us.
