Partial solar eclipse on an very warm cloudless day, what a treat this was !

Where are we today?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Hey we are going to have a very hot day, yay! My kinda weather. Gonna get up to 30 C (86F) and it did. Now today we are going to have a partial eclipse , so I headed into Forest for a few groceries and see if I could snag some solar eclipse glasses, But as I expected none where to be found.
But I had a plan "B" make a pin hole camera thing from a cereal box. Need a box of cereal anyway, so not a problem. I set to work and in a few minutes was all made just waitng for the eclipse to happen.
quick and easy to make
this is too cool maybe 30 percent
the eclipse is moving
Tonight a very moist Turkey meat loaf for supper, I followed this recipe that I found on the web, clic here or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
mushrooms and onions ready
sauted down and ready to mix
trivet I use to raised the meatloaf off the grill
Between cooking and watching the eclipse we noticed a stillness in the air, no wind and no birds, very eerie.
 a stillness in the air
Then a bit later as we were enjoying our e-readers a few friends stopped by to chat, First was Martin , then Ron stopped by on his bicycle, and Walt as he wandered on by and as usual Walt is working on something.
hi Walt
then Melinda stopped in to say hi as well
But now almost 4:30 time to put our meatloaf on the Weber Q with the trivet, Just about an hour it was done to perfection, low and slow is the trick and no peaking.
perfect
added to our green salad and we both really enjoyed it
leftovers of course
meat loaf sandwiches that we love.
What a fun day, we enjoyed the partial eclipse, chat with a few people and enjoyed this amazing weather and a very tasty supper. What are can we ask for?
Thank y'all for taking the time to check us out and hope you got to see some of the eclipse as well.

Where have we been this summer ?

  1. Meatloaf looks good and fairly easy, if we don't peak. Great use of a cereal box!, pin-hole cameras are fun.

    1. The pin hole viewer worked pretty good, the glasses would have been nice but could not find them anywhere around here.
It was pretty eerie while it was going on.

Glad to read you got to see the eclipse. We were suppose to see about 70+% but the clouds moved in until it was all over.

  4. A few people were experiencing different things with the eclipse day.....headaches when they got up etc. weird. I saw nothing and felt nothing different, guess we'll have to wait for the big one in 2024 and get glasses before then!
Meatloaf looks great and leftovers! Yay!

    1. Tew felt fine but the sky darkened and there was such a stillness in the air, no wind no birds. Leftover meatloaf is always good.

  6. Meatloaf sandwiches are the best!! Jim made a pinhole camera also but it was such a small image we all had trouble seeing it. We did have one pair of glasses so we just shared them. Really neat.

  7. I made the exact same Camera Obscura except I used a Bran Flakes box. :) We would have seen nothing without is as glasses were all sold out long before I started looking.
