Quartzsite Arizona , La posa West.
Overcast this morning but nice and warm. Shorts and t-shirts by 8 am gotta love it ! Got a few walkabouts, (2 miles). Suzie had her shower and we packed up and ready to hit the road by 9:30 this morning. Said so long to our friends and California.

Then we stopped at Palo verde rest area to stretch our legs and make a bite for lunch.
This a beautiful spot to stop or even camp for a few days. Now is $10 a night, but no host here, hmmm ,, used to be free.
|

Snacks for lunch done and back on the road.

Water tower in Ripley CA. for Patsy |
A bit later into Quartzsite. topped up our propane ($1.99 a gallon) topped up our gas tank ($2.08 a gallon).
|
the big tent is up and Tyson Wells going strong |
We have the permit so to La Posa South, dump our sewage and top up or fresh water tank, then to La Posa West to set up for a week or so. Have the spot we want. Can walk to the BIG tent and Tyson Wells vendors. Not too crowded yet.
All set up solar panel tilted, Weber Q ready to go and so are we. So ready to sit back and relax.
|
couple of pics from the roof of our rig |
|
lotsa room right now |
Then relax for a bit with our e-readers. Look to the right and can see Q mountain (hill), Gonna climb that Q hill for a pic before we leave.
|
That the Q |
Then time for a couple fish fillets on the Weber Q add to our salad and we are good to go.
|
now this was awesome |
For those of you that think we are on a diet. We are NOT. There is a big difference between a diet and a Healthy eating lifestyle. Healthy eating is avoiding fast food, prepared food, certain fats, eat more fresh fruit and veggies. Eating lean meat, chicken, fish, turkey. Small portion controlled meals. Less or no sweets and desserts, less carbs. The reason we did this was not to lose weight initially but to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. And has worked amazing. Bonus we lost weight too. Then the walking a few miles every day helps with that too. Once in while we eat out, that ok occasionally, but really prefer to make our own meals at home. No additives and less sodium, fats, additives etc... Amazing how much healthier we both feel.
Anywho thanks for stopping by again today. Nice to be on the road again and back to the zoo that Quartzsite will be for the next couple weeks.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..
Good for you with the lifestyle changes George and Suzie. Way to go! It's all about what you eat and how much exercise you get.
ReplyDeleteYes, Quartzsite is a bit of a zoo. Done it once and glad we did, but won't likely do it again!

Thanks Kevin, That is exactly right.
DeleteWe do enjoy the quirky town of Quartzsite and interesting things you see.
I've been reading your blog for years but have never commented. Really enjoy reading about your travels and your recipes. And I have to mention that I enjoy your positive outlook on life. (although if I was living your life I'd be pretty positive too) Thank you for sharing your travels.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Teri, glad to have you along.
DeleteLife is what you make it, it you want it to be good it will be good.
I agree with Kevin, love your new lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteBut you only drove 119 miles and had to stop for lunch!!! That would drive us loco. Funny how we are all different with various ways of getting things done.
Why not stop for lunch? It was 12:00 noon and Suzie like to eat at that time. Our life style is about the journey more than the destination.
DeleteHi George, nice that you have arrived in Quartzsite, the place we hear so much about. We are looking forward to the 'zoo' next winter and plan to make it a yearly event as well. I appreciate the water tower picture, it is so unique! Love it. The healthy eating is so much nicer than a diet, you almost feel immediate results with it. Ours is different than yours, more paleo and right now a bit less strict than when we started but I have never felt better! I eat as much fat as possible, as few carbs as I can not much of the sugary fruits but we all need to find what works for us. Healthy is the key word! BTW my sister and her husband are set up somewhere in La Posa South right now so will have to keep you informed if they move somewhere before the Big Tent event. It would be cool if you could introduce yourselves. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is all about what works for us too.
DeleteSorry the water tower was blurry, it was a driveby.
Would be nice to meet your sister and her husband but don't know how to find them.
We stopped at La Posa South yesterday to dump our sewage a refill the fresh water.
Wish we had shorts and a t-shirt on. This weather here in southern Texas is very strange this year.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it was only a year ago we were there. Time sure does fly by. Enjoy the Q and all the fun activities.
Its a quirky place just perfect for us. Enjoying the sunshine and whatever else comes our way.
DeleteIs the big tent up yet? I'd like to know where they store that monster every year, must be a big warehouse.
ReplyDeleteThe big tent is up, you can see it in a couple of the pictures if you click on them.
DeleteIt seems that Quartzite is to RVers what Sturgis is to motorcyclists. Maybe some winter we'll be out there and stop by the event.
ReplyDeleteQuartzsite is a place we enjoy, stopping by can be frustrating we like immerse ourselves in it.
DeletePlus the weather is usually pretty decent too.
Good job on the diet changes. I always enjoy seeing what's on "the grill".
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Steve and enjoying the grill with us.
DeleteFrom the pictures of Q, it doesn't look too busy yet but you just wait. It'll get real busy but you'll have fun enjoying all the activities of being there too.
ReplyDeleteThat's why here early watch the crowds and traffic coming in, it's entertaining.
DeleteWe have stopped several times at the Palo Verde Rest area. Beautiful place at the river. Have lotsa fun in Q.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful area, we camped there years ago for 3 nights when it was free.
DeleteQuartzsite is always interesting.
