Where are we today ?
Another wonderful sunrise here in the desert whats not to love about that? Wander about town by 8 am stop by the stores (they open at 8am) to get what we need today beat the traffic. Because today is the major day for it.
|
love the sunrise out from our dining room table |
Now at 9 am we ready to walk over to the big tent. 5 minutes away and no parking issues , that's why we camp here.
|
Parking lot here is full and traffic everywhere |
|
this is a cool trike |
|
entrance to the big ten, no lineups |
|
busy yes but have seen worse |
We found one vendor that has a natural product Suzie wanted $38. but kinda pricey for us with Canadian exchange is what we told him. So he dropped the price to $28.00 and she bought it. Nice to see that we can still make a few deals here and there.
|
love the dog carrier |
Tent done and walkabout the outside perimeter, check out more vendors. Not a lot new but still a nice outing and fun to check out things weather is awesome. Food vendors everywhere we look, but not cheap considering our 47% exchange rate. A $10 dollar smoked turkey leg will cost us almost $15 dollars, (not likely) Plus we have food at home, that's why we come early.
Now this was a cool, Rv to see. 1974 Winnebago Chieftain. It is the original one that has undergone major renovations. Not for sale but well over 200k in renovations. Original 440 ci Dodge engine, rebuilt, fuel injection banks power system, completely upgraded 2 slides and very amazing! The owner will not sell it just uses it for company promotions from the west coast to the east coast of the USA.

After here we walked about some more. Lotsa different food available if you want to pay the price.
But we did find the Roadmaster service tent where they will service our tow bar for free. Its going in tomorrow morning to be checked out. I removed it this afternoon and in the trunk of the car ready to go.

Roadmaster service tent |
More service areas here as well, install banks power systems and so on.
|
lots of traffic glad we can walk here |
Got a few freebies too, Minute Rice samples to try, gotta love free !
Now back home for lunch I removed our tow bar with Suzie's help and in the trunk of the car for the morning. Enjoyed our e-readers for a while then our friends John and Barb stopped by for a visit on their way back from the Big Tent.
|
this ultra lite passed over us and we waved at him probably talking pictures |
|
John and Barb |
They headed home and then Jim and Sharon stopped in for a visit They had parked their car here to avoid the traffic and walk to the show.
|
Sharon and Jim |
Their friends Carol? and Ron had also parked here too stopped by and we met them as well. We just here and people drop by and that's just wonderful. If you in the area and want to check out the big tent feel free to park right here and wander on over. No parking fees just stop and say hi if we here.
|
Jim, Sharon, Ron and Carol? sorry if I got your name wrong |
Now everyone gone after nice visits and time to whip up supper. Tonight shrimp kabobs on our Weber Q to add to our salad. Marinated in garlic and olive oil so quick to do on the grill.
|
so tasty and hit the spot |
Thas was our busy fun day check out the big Tent and will be back for cruising the venors in the next week. Now we know what we want and where to go and go back and see.
Glad that y'all dropped in to check us out and remember if you in the area Saturday Jan 23rd at 1 pm. meet a bunch of us crazy bloggers in person, La Posa south, no permit required only for ivernight camping.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..
Glad the weather is cooperating for you and you are enjoying the Big Tent.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
We here for the weather, the tent is and excursion.
DeleteIt's fun seeing the Big White Tent through your eyes. Maybe next year................
ReplyDeleteThe tent is always a fun place.
DeleteWe noticed last year at the Big Tent there were fewer vendors than the year before. It'll be interesting to hear how it compares this year.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't notice any less vendors than previous years. Less visitors maybe.
DeleteI'm always amazed at the number of dogs people bring into the big tent. I've nearly tripped over a couple, you'd think the owners would be more considerate and leave them home.
ReplyDeleteYes too many dogs underfoot, some did get stepped on, poor dogs.. At least this little was was safe.
DeleteI would think with gas prices so low, the Q would be packed. Maybe people are just a bit behind getting there.
ReplyDeleteI really don't appreciate people taking their dogs to events like the Big Tent. I like dogs, but not when I am trying to walk around and visit vendors.
Seems less people every year. I know a lot of Canadians did not come because of the high exchange rate this year.
DeleteDogs do not really belong here in these crowds.
People with their dogs in the strollers were horrible last year. I had my broken heel on the scooter and they kept "driving those strollers" into it. We didn't go yesterday. Maybe today or tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAs the weeks progresses there will be smaller crowds.
DeleteLooks like you had a good day! I remember last year being a little disappointed with the RV show, there seemed to be more things for sale than actual RV products that we were hoping for. I know from everyone telling us that the show isn't attracting as many people any more, maybe that is one of the reasons. We were hoping to have seen more representation from actual RV manufacturers but there wasn't.
ReplyDeleteI would have a tough time calling that renovated RV, original! I doubt that there is very much left on it that is actually original.

Not really a lot of rv stuff there at the big tent, just some accessories and such.
DeleteOriginal Chassis and steering wheel, dash and body style is about it.
What a great event for RVers. Joe and I typically shy away from large crowds so we will just enjoy it thru your lens! Have fun! Looking forward to the pictures of the Bloggerfest...
ReplyDeleteWe are not crazy about large crowds either, so just wander about on the sidelines mostly.
DeleteLooks like a full day with lot's to see and do. Not sure how often the exchange rate is this unfavorable but seems like not long ago it was favorable for Canadians. Perhaps when it's in your favor, you should buy up some US dollars to help when it's like it is now.
ReplyDeleteWhat we do is spend much less money.
DeleteWe would have to have excess cash to do that, something that don't have is excess.
cooler weather may be keeping some away but I bet there are fewer Canadians there with that exchange rate...
ReplyDeleteWe have found the weather not much cooler than previous years, but the exchange is a big deal for a lot of people. We just spend less, works for us.
Delete200K for renos on an old RV??? I am pretty sure that I could find a very nice 45ft.3-slide-out tag-axle Diesel Pusher MH for less than 200K Canadian.
ReplyDeleteThat reno was done by his company to promote the business.
