Where are we today ?
Cool night, great for sleeping, and up early (thats no surprise), got my walkabouts, coffees and computing done then Suzie ready by 8:30 and we are off to the Yuma Swap Meet.

another great sunrise |
In all the years we have been coming here have never been to this Fleamarket/ Swap meet. And really it is the best one (in our opinion). Really enjoyed it. Lotsa great stuff to see and do. Amazing prices and the vendors will negotiate to , its just plain fun. Even if there is a bit of a language barrier.

nice to be here early, not too busy yet |
Atmosphere is wonderful . Feels like some of the markets we have been to in Mexico. The signs are in Spanish as are the the announcements, the music and even the vendors, as well. Wanted to barter with some vendors and they called in someone who spoke English. This is great. I did buy a pair of denim shorts for $4-00, and looked at some new pants and jeans for $5.00 some great deals to be had.
Food vendors everywhere lotsa of great aromas sure made us hungry.
|
Thats 2 bags of socks for $5.00 |
|
9:30 am need a drink? |
|
appliances? good deals too |
|
new jeans $5.00 |
|
tools or stuff |
|
socks 3 pair $1.00 |
|
Boots, shoes? $20.00 |
After walking most of the market we decided we needed to take care of our rumbling tummies. Only about 10:30 but works for us. And have some Mexican food.
|
wandered in here busy spot and reasonable |
|
Suzie's Quesadia |
|
my three chicken (pollo) tacos |
|
a tasty brunch we had |
Then we wandered some more, but getting very busy so time to get outta here. We will come back another time. Great veggie prices here as well.
We packed it in got to the car and back home before noon. Whew, that was fun but the crowds were beginning to come it,
Now we can enjoy a wonderful sunny very warm day in the shade enjoying our e-readers. Perfect! No company dropped it just cause we were here I guess.
As the day progressed, did some reading and walkabouts then enjoyed watching the sun setting from our campsight over the Imperial Sand Dunes.
Took a 1/2 chicken out of the freezer and thawed it out. Fired up our Weber Q to grill it (low and slow) some zucchini slices and sweet red pepper, add that to a tasty salad and we are almost done for the day.

Perfect way to end an Awesome day |
Thanks again for the visit, weather here is amazing hope yours is too.

Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Winter.
Fun! I'm thinking that some of the prices were probably better than what we would pay here! Good to get away before the crowds!
ReplyDeleteMost prices were very good, except the food a bit more pricey than Mexico.
DeleteThats why we like to go early, beat the crowds.
Thanks George. We put that on our list of things to do when we are in Pilot Knob in January
ReplyDeleteIt is a fun one to wander about, but we enjoy most markets for different reasons.
DeleteThat market is just like what Shipshewanna in Indiana used to be. Looks like fun...and tasty!
ReplyDeleteA lot of markets have gone commercial and modern, this is the real things here.
DeleteThat market is huge. Got it on my to do list when we get to Yuma this year.
ReplyDeleteEvery Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sunday, enjoy.
DeleteI love to go to markets, they're so much fun. You basically have to go without having something specific to buy, and usually you find a treasure (or two). You and Suzie didn't try the menudo? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe just go for the atmosphere and always enjoy them. Get some exercise too. I have tried menudo, not real fussy on it.
DeleteWe have not been to that market. I am with you with crowds. I don't fancy shopping at the best of times and large crowds only make the experience even less inviting.
ReplyDeleteLove the atmosphere here, loud music and and everyone appears to be friendly and in a good mood.Go early avoid the crowds.
DeleteBeen there, done that too! I believe many of those people do go to Mexico to get their supplies. It is fun to walk through and see if there is something we just can't live without. I must admit we have found somethings but rarely do we do more than look.
ReplyDeleteI am sure a lots of their supplies come right from Mexico. We cab wander about too just to look.
DeleteThat market is huge! Looks like they have everything imaginable. Guess if they don't have it, you don't need it ;-)
ReplyDeleteThats about it, they have it all. Not much we need, but always fun to explore.
DeleteLooks like a fun time was had for sure. You always mention that you sleep well, Tracy and I were out camping this weekend and didn't sleep much with the wind and rain here in AZ. Have you always slept well while full timing or did it take some time to get use to? We were just wondering and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteNo adjusting for us, we always sleep well, maybe not so good when a tornado is near but no problems for us. I sleep fast though usually only about 6 hours.
DeleteBev likes to go to those places but since I need to be getting rid of stuff rather than buying anything, I usually just people watch while she browses. Supper and the sunrise both look good.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need much either, usually disposable or edible things.
DeleteAnother nice Fleamarket, sure a nice variety of merchandise and some great prices, think it would be pretty hard to beat that deal on the shorts. Lunch looked great too. Chicken looked perfect. Rain clouds are moving in here as I speak so looks like I will be bringing out our pressure cooker for tonight's dinner. Hope you have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteLove a good deal, and the pressure cooker works great too.
DeleteYou guys have a good one as well.
The market looked like a great time! We have found 2 here in the Apache Junction area and have had a ball checking them out. Never have gone to them and are finding that we really enjoy! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, we like to look for markets wherever we are, some are better than others, but always have fun at them.
