Where are we today ?
Warm night again and was wonderful. Even early this morning pretty nice (70 f) too, but went all downhill from there.Still dealing with the ants we picked up in Texas. Thought they were all gone. No ants here outside so they are Texas ants, can tell they are wearing cowboy hats ! Clean out a cupboard and all gone. Next day we find them in another place, at least we get to completely empty and clean all our cupboards, and closets and purge at the same time. Think maybe we have the problem resolved????
We were enjoying our e-readers out side this afternoon and all was not too bad. As the day progressed cloud cover, temps dropped to the low 60's and winds picked up.
Our patio faces west and all of a sudden the west winds came in here like gangbusters, right across the open sand dunes. We should know better. So we quickly unsecured the awning and a nice neighbor came to our help, gave us a hand to roll it up, or we sure would have lost it. All is good now we are safe and so is our awning. Back inside we go.
We had planned to visit friends right behind our campground dry camping in the desert. But not gonna be nice with todays overcast, wind, cooler temps and a tiny bit of rain. We had also planned to do some fish and veggies on our Weber Q. But just like rving we have a plan B .
not as nice as it was but still about 60f had to put on a hoody and long pants |
looks at the niegbor's flag |
The plan B was to make a huge pot of spaghetti sauce with lean ground turkey breast. Lots veggies, onions, mushrooms, garlic and simmer for a few hours.
We had a spaghetti squash on hand and Suzie's choice was a (click next for the recipe) Spaghetti squash lasagne , Easy to do and very healthy and tasty.all scouped out and ready to make |
spaghetti ready to reassemble |
finished meal with a tiny salad and lots leftovers |
Thanks for the visit and hope your day was good too.

Not fun when it is too cold to visit! It was cool in Palm Springs today as well but should get better tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be so bad except for the wind and cloud cover, Saturday will be better.
DeleteOh man, I remember one time we parked outside my brother-in-law's place. Total wood lot of three acres. Did we ever get ants! They were coming up the jacks and getting in that way. Managed to round them up with many many ant traps (little round things filled with stick stuff), but they got into just about every cupboard.
ReplyDeleteAfter that, and unbeknownst to my brother-in-law, (he doesn't like to spray bugs it seems) I would lace the jacks and and around the base of the tires with raid whenever we'd visit. That did the trick. Good luck.
We found the source in Texas and stopped them from coming in, up the sewer hose but too late , they keep popping up everywhere. Think we have them removed now. Time will tell.
DeleteWe've picked up ants too. They sure like to hitchhike. It took quite a bit to get rid of them. Ours were California ants. We're expecting the rain tonight but the wind isn't supposed supposed to be as strong here as in California. Hopefully, it'll warm up as fast as it cooled down.
ReplyDeleteWe have been working of them for a week now think the issue is resolved.
DeleteHope it does warm up quick again too.
Glad you got to the awning just in time. We have ants here too - we don't want to use raid so we kinda just live with them. Not as bad now - we've stopped most from coming into the van - the small sugar ants. Hope the weather is just a blip.
ReplyDeleteThey were getting into food so that was not good. Hope you have the ants under control now.
DeleteWeather now calls for sunshine and less wind so should be awesome again.
Ants are not fun, especially the fire ants we had, that bite you! We seem to have ours under control now, but it was a battle!
DeleteThese were not fire ants, think maybe sugar ants. Time will tell if we got them all.
DeleteGlad you saved the awning. Had to do that at 3AM once, it was funny seeing everyone outside securing their awnings. We keep the ants out by using vaseline. Make a ring around the sewer hose ( and waster hose ) and they don't come in. We also do our jacks and everything else that touches the ground.
ReplyDeleteThe wind came up so fast and we had it secured, but got it down.
DeleteNever had an ant problem in all the years we have rv'ed.
Think we are good now though.
We've not had an ant issue but I can imagine it being a major pain. The sauce looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt was from a jar but with the addition of the spices and everything else was very good.
DeleteAnts sure can be a pain to get rid of. They are pretty harmless, though, as long as they stay out of your pants... ;c)
ReplyDeleteThey are a nuisance thats for sure.
