Where are we today ?
We are on the road at 8:20 this morning making our way east. Good bye Arizona it's been an awesome winter! Zip thru New Mexico, into Texas and decided to stop at the Flying J for the night. Was 2:40pm and we had enough travelling for the day. Besides it was 81 f suits us just perfect.295 miles today |
Leaving Arizona |
Las Cruces rest Area |
Leaving New Mexico |
Entering Texas |
One cone like this jumped out and attacked us! |
a few minor scratches |
So just relax for a bit enjoy our books, compute, walkabout the store for a while, check out all the interesting stuff we don't need. Then whip up a salad and heat up our spaghetti casserole for supper. Sure hit the spot.
A bit more computing and watch the tube for a few minutes before calling it a night. That was it for a great travel day, sunshine, clear skies, not too much wind and traffic.
A couple more travel days then we sit still for a bit.
Just taking our time looking for warm weather. And so far we have it.
Was so nice of you to drop in by for a visit, y'all come back now, hear?

I've heard of those rogue traffic cones that jump out and hit your vehicle. Good thing the damage wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteNasty cones they are.
DeleteDid you wave at that BIG roadrunner up on the hill just west of Las Cruces? We haven't stayed at a Flying J in a long, long time..... hope you have a reasonably quiet night. Isn't there a Wal-Mart just off I10 either in Anthony or El Paso? Of course I like Wal-Marts because there's often a geocache hidden there ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe road runner is gone!!! We stopped at that rest are just to take his picture again. Check it out and he has been removed and refurbished, now they can't decide where to relocate it.
DeleteThe Walmart is right on I-10 , very busy and very close to the Mexico border, Suzie likes the security here and it was actually very quiet, where we parked.
Knowing you George, you will make those scratches go away in no time... You covered a lot of ground.
ReplyDeleteWe just moving along at a comfortable pace, have seen most of what we want along here in the past.
DeleteSeems like that's all I did this trip across the Country was go through construction !! Stay SOUTH for as long as you can !!
ReplyDeleteThats our plan, just taking it easy.
DeleteSnow or construction - such wonderful choices you have. But I am glad it wasn't any worse than it was.
ReplyDeleteI will take construction anyday, at least the weather is much warmer as well.
DeleteDarn those cones! George! There is a great Home Depot on the north side to overnight - very quiet!!!!!! Deja vu for us this year - just the opposite direction!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, we feel more secure with all the lights here and open 24 hours, this is fine for one night.
DeleteWould be nice, but a lot more miles, we find a few warm spots and rest awhile.
ReplyDeleteHow far east will you go before you head north?
ReplyDeleteDallas/ Fort Worth , then a 45 degree angle towards Ohio is the plan.
DeleteI know you only have 15 days to return, but we've had an unusually long winter this year.
ReplyDeletehttp://past.theweathernetwork.com/snow/index
You might want to return to Canada via southern Alberta/Saskatchewan, about the only place east of the Rockies that isn't buried in snow?
Now that would really be a long way around, and still have to get through northern Ontario.
Delete(Grin) You have much greater faith in the weather gods than I! It's OK, Canadian Tire still has snow shovels.
DeleteAs long as you watch those weather reports, you'll be fine. Whether it's snow, ice, wind or tornadoes, be safe!
ReplyDeleteWe always watch the weather when we are on the road, so should be fine.
DeletePaul and I just can't figure out why they need to make those lanes so dang skinny. Glad you had a good first day on the road. Stay safe out there.
ReplyDeleteThats a first for me, but it was real tight, with a ledge on the drivers side that we were riding on.
DeleteAt least you can take your ears out to get a good nites sleep amidst all the trucks.
ReplyDeleteThere was actually no truck noise at all they were parked at the other side of the buildings and restaurant.
DeleteOther than the scratches, looks like a good start to the trip home. I hate those narrow lanes in construction zones. Supper looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteOh well things happen all is good thou here.
DeleteI've seen those darned cones jump out on the highway too, George. That spaghetti sure looked good.
ReplyDeleteMakes for a nice tasty meal on the road, or anytime for that matter.
