Where are we today ?
Did we have great night last night? You betcha, cool enough for a great night's sleep with the windows open a bit = perfect!
The weather here is kinda different, Desert Hot Springs is only a short drive from Palm Springs but a higher elevation, and a bit further from the mountains. So we don't get too much flooding, and too much weird weather (my opinion of course) We just get to look at it in the distance.
This morning can see the San Jacinto mountain peak from out site. Elevation over 10,000 feet. The fog and smog has lifted and we can now see snow on the peaks.
Thats about as much snow as we would like to see. Where we are about 900 feet above sea level suits us just fine!
We enjoyed some nice sunny weather off and on, got a couple walkabouts the resort and chatted with a few people here and there.
nice day to walkabout |
Hey we saw snow in the distance,
just the way we like it, far away...
snow in the mountains is good |
Then after lunch we drove around the corner to Catalina Spa Resort to visit a couple friends that we knew were there. First couple we stopped by was Joe and Betty. We only met a couple weeks ago, (fellow bloggers). Such a supper couple. Unannounced we stopped by for a short nice visit, then let them head off to their commitments and we on to ours.
Next visit at Catalina Spa was to drop by and visit Jim and Sharon from Alberta, that we last saw in Quartzsite. Had a nice short visit and caught up with them again.
Back home we got together with a few friends here from Ontario (8 of us altogether) and enjoyed a very nice social hour. Two couples are on the road tomorrow so was a nice final get together, and probably meet up again soon on down the road.
A nice social hour we had. |
Pork Stroganoff is a very tasty meal that we enjoy, check out the recipe here if you like. And we added the Acorn squash too, one of our favourites.
pork Stroganoff and Acorn squash, yummy |
Thanks for stopping on by.

As long as the snow is in the distance, it can be a good thing. Temperatures here are hot and then cold. Don't think it will ever level off.
ReplyDeleteIt has been really strange weather in Texas this winter. Yes don't want to feel the snow.
DeleteYou two just continue on and on with the food, fun, and friends... wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWell its a tough job, someone has to do it, we applied and got the position.
DeleteSnow in the mountains far away is good! You and Suzie sure know how to have fun and have met the nicest folks....I follow Joe and Betty's blog also!
ReplyDeleteI will be checking out the pork stroganoff recipe.....I never know what to do with leftover pork except bar-b-que...Thanks!
Joe and Betty are a super couple and had a nice visit again.
DeleteSo many things you can do with leftovers, this is another favourite recipe of ours.
take your time going home, we are halfway home and it's rainy and cold.
ReplyDeleteWe are in no rush, thats for sure, keep warm.
DeleteWishing you a safe, slow journey eastward. You've made several connections with RV folks while in the area. Your social network continues to grow.
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to travel, looking forward to it, but not the cold weather back home.
DeleteThat's the first time I've seen snow up on Mt. Jacinto this year. Other year's its been there most of the winter. Looks like our weather is going to get completely back to normal in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteIt has been an excellent warm winter this year.
DeleteWeather back to normal as we get back on the road again...
As long as that four letter word stays far away I do find it beautiful. Our rain has moved on and we are going back up into the high 70's this week. Perfect as far as I'm concerned. I've decided you can cook for me anytime.
ReplyDeleteThat white stuff in the distance is just fine, lets hope it stays that way.
DeleteCooking is always fun for me, even more so now that its just usually for the two of us.
Hi George:
ReplyDeleteJoe and Betty: two of my favorite people in the World. I was in Oregon City last Summer relaxing in my RV when a knock came on the door. I opened to Betty, who introduced herself as a reader of my blog. She'd seen I was nearby and talked Joe into driving over with her to introduce themselves. That started a wonderful friendship that we keep up on at least a weekly basis. They are a super couple, for sure.
I surely do hope I can catch up with you and Suzie sometime soon.
We have met so many friendly people in the rv and blogging world that have become good friends.
DeleteHope we will meet up soon too, I am our paths will cross somewhere in the near future.
