Where are we today ?
Another great sunny day, such typical Arizona weather. So a few walkabouts the resort this morning enjoying the fresh air. Temps in the high 70's.

This T shirt has very good advice |
Our friend Ron has Freddy out for his morning run beside his bike. 35 kph (21 mph), Freddy is pulling him, downhill.

Freddy even pulling him uphill |
Now saturday mornings they have fresh baked cinnamon or Pecan rolls here at 9 am. So gotta have a rare treat
|
we shared it, yummy |
Now because we are so close (16 miles) just had to take a short trip into Tombstone, for a bit of a fix of the old west. It is a tourist trap yes, but with the right mindset we have fun here. We have been here many times before and still have fun. Just wander down the boardwalk, taking in the sites and sounds. Cowboys walking about, stage coaches, a few shady lady's here and there and lots of restaurants and stores for souvenirs and such.
Maybe check out a few places, chat with a couple cowboys here and there. They try to sell you tickets for their gunfights at different loctaions. Over the years think we have seen it all but still reminds me of those old western movies.

The main reason we came to town was to meet Ron and Loree at
Big Nose Kate's Saloon for lunch. Just love the atmosphere of this cowboy bar. Live entertainment,
Big Ass Cold beer and one of the Goldie's Overstuffed Reubens is the draw for me.

Now this is what we came for and did not disappoint, no supper tonight!

Suze chicken, bacon Pannini |
A few more people posing for fun photos, right beside our table.
Now down the circular staircase into the shaft, we were treated with a few colorful stories of ghosts and characters of the past. They distracted our wife's while the Madame here tried to drum up some business here with Ron and I.
We were told interesting stories of this silver mine dug in the basement by the original caretaker in the 1880's.

Now we had all this fun for the price of a very tasty filling lunch and beverage for under $35.00 including a generous tip. It helps that we have two weeks camping here with no overnight fees.
Then time to head back to camp and enjoy our books for a while, on this beautiful day. Soon a fun Happy Hour with our friends for a while sharing stories, tips and discussing future plans for this winter.
No supper tonight, we fed up!

A hard day in the desert see ya later |

I like Tombstone - touristy or not. It's just a fun place to relive all those movies we watched as kids.
ReplyDeleteThats is exactly right.
DeleteWe have been to Tombstone three or four times and always find something fun there. Of course, a visit to Big Nose Kate's is always in order!
ReplyDeleteEven just to wander the streets is fun too. Last time BNK's was closed for maintenance (Wednesday) how disappointed we were.
DeleteTombstone is a fun town no matter how many times we've been there. We especially love going to Big Nose Kate's. This last time I even climbed up on that piano and we had our picture taken.
ReplyDeleteSuzie did that quite a few years ago. always fun.
DeleteWhat a fun time y'all had. Paul bought that exact t-shirt. He has gotten more than a few laughs from it.
ReplyDeleteI love the saying but did not buy the shirt. Always a fun time here.
DeleteLooks like a town I'd like to visit and the saloon definitely looks like my kind of place. "Live entertainment, Big Ass Cold beer and one of the Goldie's Overstuffed Reubens" - sounds like the perfect lunch.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was good food and a fun time.
DeleteWe camped in Tombstone in 08 but have thought of a day trip when we start heading out west for the winters. Looks like you all had a good time.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
We have been coming since '06 and always have fun in town.
DeleteYou just had to have another hit of old before heading back to Ontario, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteYes more memories of those old western movies, and the Rueben too.
DeleteWhat a fun day! If my memory serves me right, the last time you were there, Big Nose Kate's was closed. That was some good looking sandwich! We love rubens.
ReplyDeleteYes you are right, (closed for repairs) and we were so disappointed. Just had to come back again for our Reuben fix.
DeleteI wandered around Tombstone my first year on the road. Loved the place !! Gotta get back there.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to explore and maybe enjoy a gunfight, they even have a Harley shop there too.
DeleteThanks again for sharing. It's a bleak snowy spring/winter day her in NL. Your pics brighten the mood. I particulary love the t-shirt... and I can taste that sticky bun. Perhaps our paths will cross someday when I am finally livin' the dream.
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome, you just need to get out there and do it, the sooner the better.
DeleteI always love reading about your visits and seeing your photos from Tombstone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us we always enjoy our tours too.
