Where are we today ?
Walmart Midland Texas
We actually had a good nights sleep last night at this Flying J. in El Paso. Away from the pumps, and all the trucks, the restaurant and store were between us and the truck parking.
Up early as usual had our coffees, and computing done, hit the road at 6:40am, our plan was the Walmart in Midland Texas or further.
296 miles today |
perfect travel day, very little traffic, not much wind and no rain or snow |
Could this be Croft and Norma Randle (Croft's Mexico). I knew they were in the area heading west, so we check out the store and Denny's. This looks like it could be them, and being the shy person I am walked up to their table and asked. Sure enough.
So we joined them, order breakfast and were able to actually meet each other in person. Now how cool is that, we have been following each others blogs for some time.
Such a supper friendly couple and once again we have met more fellow Rv Blogger's, or as Norma mentioned "imaginary friends" they now actually are real people!
Ok we chatted and chatted over an hour and a had great breakfast. I know we could have talked a lot more but we are both on the road today slowly making tracks for home in opposite directions. Us to Ontario and they are heading to British Columbia.
What a great friendly couple |
Almost feels like coming home. We even got the same parking spot we had last December when we we stranded here for three nights, with snow, sleet and freezing rain. Only this time it is so much better 88 f. Not freezing our butts off now.
today |
remember this, freezing rain snow and sleet Dec. 6th? |
very tasty |
Thanks for joining us on our journey today, never know what or who we will find around the next bend, or even where we might end up. If you are in the road travel safe too.

Great fun to meet up with Croft and Norma. I've met them both and really like Norma (ha, ha Croft).
ReplyDeleteGood to see that you and Suzie are still eating well even if you didn't fire up the Q today!
They are a supper couple.
DeleteI really don't like to set up or Weber Q in the Walmart parking lot, its just not right.
You just never know who you're going to meet up with if you keep your eyes open. How fun. I like your weather much better now.
ReplyDeleteYes we like this weather much better than Decmber too!
DeleteYes, quite a bit nicer without the snow and ice!
ReplyDeleteThat's for suure!
DeleteIsn't it amazing how quickly the time flies? Pretty soon it is time to head home. We are at Llano Grande in Mercedes at the moment, and leave on Sunday. First stop is at Bayview in Rockport, then it's toWolf River near Slidell. Expecting to be back home by the end of April. Travel safe.
ReplyDeleteHave fun there, and travel safe too, thought Wolf River was near Pass Christian.
DeleteIt was so great to run into you and Suzi! Two fewer imaginary friends! I "borrowed" your photo for use in my Blog which I will try to do soon. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteYes it was fun, the pictures are your's for the taking. Travel safe.
DeleteSo glad that you guys ran into each other! Hey - that picture looks familiar! Ha! So much better in the sun then the snow! Have a good travel day tomorrow….
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa, we like the sun and more much better too!
DeleteWhat a difference in heading to Arizona than from Arizona. Nice that you could reserve your same spot without the snow. Hopefully, you won't see anymore of that stuff on your way home.
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan and I am pretty sure it will work.
DeleteTo us Midland, Texas, is like the end of the earth. We stayed in that area two days just exploring it and Odessa. Nothing but wind and dust...yuck!
ReplyDeleteYou got that about Midland,Oil wells everywhere and desert, but the Walmart has a free parking spot for the night in the right spot
DeleteNice of you to meet up with Norma & Croft. I agree they are very super folks.
ReplyDeleteI hate when that time change change happens when you are on the road and somehow it slips your mind.
Yeah it was a fst two hour change in one day, wow...
DeleteGood chance meeting with Norma & Croft.
ReplyDeleteBig difference in weather conditions where you are now compared to the last time.
Yep pretty hot here we like but more humid than Arizona.
DeleteThat was quite the coincidental meeting..... good thing you were observant.
ReplyDeleteHope your travels are smooth as you head to Ontario,
We are hoping that too, so far so good !
DeleteMeeting one another by traveling in opposite directions is really quite the coincidence. This is the world of Rving and blogging we love so much. Hope the nice weather stays on for you. It's not so nice farther north I fear. Take your time to get back to ON.
ReplyDeleteIt Is an amazing lifestyle that we love, Hoping for good weather as we make our way bay home.
DeleteI couldn't read past "hit the road at 6:40am" !!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteWe forgot to change our clocks was actually 8:40am!
