Sunshine and a tiny bit cooler, still better than back home.....

Where are we today ?
The early morning sunrise on our patio is wonderful. Cool nights (45f great for sleeping) and warm days here in the mid 70's f. But our campsite had afternoon shade and a very cool breeze. Hmm, maybe see if we can do something about this tomorrow. Does not hurt to ask.

nice by the ponds
Got to puttering around this morning, clean the front out our coach, the bugs just keep on insisting they want to commit suicide on our motorhome and windshield. The nerve on them!
so peaceful
Afternoon walk up by the Casitas that are quite nice looking and a good view over the area.

After lunch, clean the grill on our Weber Q enjoying this great weather, needs to be done (when the spirit moves me) and the weather is perfect. With so much use the grill gets "stuff" caked on so I literally take a chisel to it and remove some baked on carbon. Its been a few years since I did that so now is good as new. Then a relaxing time with our books in the shade.
Relaxing in the sun with our books
Supper tonight is our corned beef and cabbage dinner on our Weber Q. A day late for St. Patrick's Day. The recipe is  here . Last year it turned out perfect. This year we had some issues.
All seemed to be going well, but even with our wind screen, with the Weber Q on low, the flame went out and the grill cooled down. Not once but twice! So the convection way the grill works did not do too well.
Taters, carrots and cabbage turned our very good, but this time our corned beef was not as tender as before. Oh well was still very tasty and editable. Think we need to find a campsite that is less windy.
still cooking
very tasty
I had thought maybe this might happen but, mother nature does play tricks on us and can screw up our best laid plans.
All in all we still had a great day and a very tasty meal to wind things up.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit we do enjoy your company.

  1. Windy everywhere I guess! Still, a good looking meal! Just checkin' in - it's been a bit since good wifi - I'm behind with everyone! Glad you had a good day - and got the weber cleaned up too!

  2. A little of that wind is blowing down this way too. At least it's not terrible but it sure is breezy. However, we're not complaining as the temperature is warm and the sky has been blue. Rain is coming but not yet.

    1. It is warm but the wind and the shade make it quite chilly.

  3. LOL, are we ever 'feelin' for ya George! We are so happy to wake up to temps above the freezing mark. Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day +6 but freezing rain forecast later tonight. Take your time!! and enjoy the 'chilly' while you have it. :)

    1. You having a heat wave, we are enjoying even chilly. Too hot in the sun and too cool in the shade with the wind.

  4. Mother Nature is playing tricks all over this country. Wind is a minor issue for those in the NE. Just saw where Ohio might get another blast of snow on Saturday. We plan to travel back there starting this Sunday. Yuck!

  5. The wind was blowing here too - Desert Hot Springs - and it did cool down. What is with these winds of late?

  6. Morning, George… gorgeous day here in Little Rock! yay! ... When I was a kid, Dad ALWAYS said ... each and every time a bug killed itself on the windshield... Well? that's the last time he'll ever do that...

    1. Keep that warm weather coming there. We are helping to reduce the bug population.

  7. We power wash the grill every so often and that keeps it looking new! Good luck with finding a new site.

    1. I tried the power washer a few times but did not remove the carbon build up from the grill.
Lots of empty sites here, maybe we check them out.

  8. Mother Nature sure has a mind of her own...it's been very windy here in Tucson too.

  9. I too just power washed my grill. It did a pretty good job but you're right. It doesn't get all stuff. Could Ben today's project.

  10. It's March and March is windy. Really puts a crimp in Jim's fishing and he's not happy. We also had our corned beef and cabbage yesterday but I did mine in the crockpot and it really turned out good.

    1. Yep March is windy, but at least its sunny and warm.
I have done the corned beef on our weber before and turned out perfect, buy with the fire going out twice (because of the wind) it did not cook the way its supposed to.
