"On the Road Again"

Ok its time to get going, the itchy feet are driving us crazy. Although its nice to get on the road and explore, its almost sad, we are beginning the journey back home, into cooler unstable weather for the next 2 and 1/2 months. So coffee, computing, taking our time to pack up, letting the sunrise warm the air. Then at 8:45 to the dump station and only 3 rv's in front of me. Suzie took the car to the east end of town to park and read her book, while I moved about with the coach.

When I left the dump station at 9:15 am there was 12 rv's in line. From here back into town to fill our propane tank then to meet up with Suzie and hook up the car. It's very obvious that there is more rv's than cars on the road today.

Now all hooked up and onto I-10 eastbound before 10:00am, passing yet more RV's taking advantage to free desert camping, maximum 14 day stays.

About 11:30 stop at a rest area to finish off our Garlic Shrimp pizza for lunch, (soo good) then carry on bypassing Phoenix arriving at Desert Shadows Resort in Casa Grande for 1:00pm.
Desert Shadows
A bright sunny warm day and a good drive, but by the time we got here the winds had started to pick up and the nice thing about most Arizona resorts is they have a cement wall around them that really helps to block the wind, dust and debris, probably even some of the desert critters.

So now we have all the modern conveniences, electricity, water, and sewage even a cement patio for 4 nights. So we put the paper plates away and Suzie gets to do dishes again, she is so excited! After 2 weeks of camping in the desert we do appreciate the conveniences a bit more, but really miss the wide open spaces of desert camping.

We felt like chicken for supper so I ran out to the store thinking to pick up a couple of chicken legs. Well I got a whole  51/2 pond chicken for $2.89 wow! So I quartered the bird and put half in the freezer for another meal and cooked up half on the barbie with a rice pilaf. Now we even have enough chicken left over for sandwiches.

Now to relax, chat, do dishes, read and a bit of tv all is good. But we are going to be getting some cold weather, not as bad as back home just below freezing at night and maybe up to 15c (60f) during the day, not to worry we won't suffer to much, (we have some barely used warm clothes) at least we don't have to shovel it.

  1. Why would you wait in line to dump when you could have just dumped when you got to Casa Grande?

  2. Contessa, I only waited 10 minutes in line and got rid of about 700 lbs of "excess weight".
