Happy Valentines Day!
Be My Valentine
Today is Valentines Day and My Sweetie and I enjoyed a nice sunrise, morning coffees, then we were on the road by 9:00 today to explore Texas Hill Country and stop at Luckenbach Texas for lunch.
nice sunrise
We were on I-10 for about 2 hours then on US 290 thru the village of Harper with all of the old empty buildings almost looking like a ghost town. Then Fredericksburg and Blanco both with beautiful old stone architecture from times long ago. The atmosphere of small town Main Street America with angle parking. We enjoyed the interesting good paved 2 lane highway thru the rolling hills, past huge Texas ranches and beautiful scenery, no traffic just a few cowboys in their pickups and almost everybody waving as we passed.

Well if you have never been to Luckenbach Texas, you would be surprised, not much here but a famous wooden dance hall/barn. You have the parking lot, a couple of houses, the post office, a couple of small outdoor stages, the bar and the dance hall. Population 3, you can check out the song on this video below.

We parked and wandered thru the post office to the bar at the back, grabbed a beer (it was noon after all) sat outside and listened to the pickin' and singing of the living legend Jimmy Lee Jones. We could have stayed all day and all thru the night listening to him sing and the other various singers and pickers that constantly show up to this open jam session. But we have a reservation at the resort just and hour away. We found out that for future reference we can park our coach overnight in the parking lot for a small fee. That way we can enjoy the atmosphere, indulge in a few pop, eat our own food, (no food available here except when functions are happening). Oh and we just missed the 36th annual hug-in and Valentine Ball this past weekend, that would have been a party!

After this break and a sample of some good country music, we reluctantly made a bite to eat for lunch and headed thru more hill country to the Summit Rv resort in Sattler (New Braunfels Texas).
We checked in and set up on our site open our awning , it was very hot in the sun (90f - 32c) set up our chairs and relaxed with our books for a while, enjoying this amazing weather.

Well its Valentines Day so I will whip up a special dinner tonight, just because we can. Start with a shrimp cocktail with our giant shrimp, then some crab legs and claws, with melted butter of course, a tasty rice pilaf, fresh potato roll, a glass on nice wine then a mini pecan tart for desert. This great nice candlelight dinner and we didn't have to go anywhere.
yummy supper
Another great day of traveling, sightseeing and celebrating, darn we really love this lifestyle! Thanks for stopping by and enjoying it with us.

As I am sitting here this morning putting this together 3 deer ran past our window, what a nice sight, their picture is at the end of the slideshow.

Many Pictures of todays adventure.

  3. If you don't have a motorcycle, how far do you have to park to walk to the famous post office? Thanks
