Getting our fridge repaired, back to Rock Glen and step broke again, on a very hot day !

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Just another relaxing evening here at Chris and Bills. After chatting with them for a couple of hours last night. Into bed and a very good nights sleep in our own bed, This morning as usual the rooster was up and crowing about 5 am, but I beat him today !   Got some computing and a pot of coffee taken care of then a nice walk down the road and back about a mile, Gets me going in the morning.
Chatted with Chris and Bill for a while outside about 7:30 am after they had fed the horse and dogs, and had picked many quarts of strawberries, (gave us some oh so tasty)
nice sunrises here
Getting ready head on out
lots of fresh strawberries oh so tasty
Then about 8:30 we ready to hit the road. OOpps our step broke again!. A slight delay, secure with bungie cords and away we go. To get our fridge repaired in St Thomas Ontario only an hour away. Passing many Ginseng fields along the way
Ginseng is very popular in this area
replaces the failing tobacco crops
Got to Gammons Rv Appliance repairs, in St Thomas Ontario. We had called him a couple of weeks ago hoping to get our propane Fridge repaired. It works on electric but not propane. And he is the go to guy in this area, Too bad he is retiring after 35 years, and no one to carry on this business.
Thanks to a recommendation from Kelly of the Bayfield Bunch.  He did find some issues mostly the propane lines were plugged with sludge from the propane we get  when we are down south in the winters. Apparently the propane there is not refined as well with the warmer temperatures, as we have here in the cold north. So sludge (oil) can cause issues. He disconnected  the lines and blew out the sludge and propane pressure went from 1 lb to about 10 bs where it should be.,we have a much better flame for our fridge and hope that this takes care of our issues. He really knows his stuff and showed me a few tips to keep things working well.
Time will tell with todays temp to 95 F Feels like much more than 100 plus f with the humidity) this fridge will be working very hard as will our AC.
Jim Gammon doing his stuff
this be his shop
In 90 minutes he was done should work perfectly now, Then we headed on out to Rack Glen resort for  a couple of weeks. Our home membership park we we can camp with full hook ups for no overnight fees. And all the facilities as well.
got here about 12;30 and all set up
Now will make sure our fridge is working properly on propane, get the part to repair our electric step again, and enjoy some nice quiet times here for a while, getting back on track with our healthier eating.
We got our AC going with the outside temp at 95F and humidity 90 % was pretty sticky out here. We enjoyed some nice breezes in the shade reading and our friend Paul dropped by to chat for a while, until the rain sprinkles began.
supper tonight a salad with son leftover roast pork from the other night
Got our inside temp temps down, supper done and outside , but them some more sprinkles again, but no wind. Awning down and secured and enjoyed a wonderful evening outside . Temp 79 F (feels like 97F) according to the weather app . Yup still pretty sticky out here but a few nice breezes..
Did manage to finish this posting and get a few more pages turned on our e-readers.
So far looks like our fridge is working (fingers crossed) and we can now read for a while.
Want to thank y'all for taking the time to  check us out and hope you day was a great one as well.

  1. Glad he was able to get the fridge working. (Hopefully)
Too bad he is retiring. I enjoyed the wedding post. Your rig almost had the best seat in the house :)

  2. If the fridge is working correctly now then it was the issue with the different propane. Good to know that this could cause a problem. I enjoyed all your pictures of the wedding. That was probably a stress free event where everyone wore casual. The food looked absolutely scrumptious. That caterer should be recommended.
Hopefully your RV steps will get fixed also and no more items on the to do list. Enjoy the RV park.

    1. That sludge in the propane appears to be have been the issue, but them our coach is 20 years old took a long time to block those lines. The wedding was very stress free, everyone had a great time. The caterer is very well lnpown in this area and extremely busy.. I will get the steps fixed again and eventually something else will come along that needs attention.

  3. Is there a way to filter the propane? Kind of like the filter on the Big Buddy heater?

  5. I never heard of propane causing problems like that. Glad you got it fixed. Your step? What's up with that?? Something must be binding up to keep breaking it. Hope you find a solution!!

    1. I knew propane has some residue in it, and we use a lot of being full-time for the last 12 years. And our coach is 20 years old. When we buy a lot in the south and bring it back here the cold weather cause the less refined propane in the warmer weather. He has seen this quite a few times.
The part that broke this time was one I thought I fixed, but guess not. The step seems to move very easily , maybe the step covers are causing an issue.

  6. That was interesting about the difference in propane here and up your way. Hoping it fixed the problem for good. What a wonderful weekend you had! Those strawberries look awesome!

    1. Interesting information and an easy fix with the propane.
The easy fix is very expensive , a new electric step, glad I can still get parts for it. A new electric step for this coach is about $1,500

  9. Hope you can soon get your step fixed, would be a nuisance. We don't have one like yours, just a step from a hardware store that we bring out when we stop. Have sometimes forgotten to put it back in the van when we move on so an electric one would be good for us. We have just had a week away but it is so cold here that we will stay home now for a couple of months until the weather warms up. You might like to look at my web site and see some of our trips. I really enjoy following your adventures.
