A nice pot of soup early today, enjoying this very warm weather and darts tonight too much fun.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
This morning started off very foggy and no more rain. But it was very foggy for a while. After I put a pot of Ham Bones on to  boil. These were a very nice gift from Suzie's Uncle Earlus and Aunt Delores they had left from the Ham Dinner at Easter this year (that we missed), Thanks for thinking of us. You know I love leftover bones for soup!
love this soup mix we stock up when we go south
was quite foggy first thing this morning
While these bones were simmering I took quick trip to Strathroy for some food supplies, and home to drain the broth and put it back on to boil with Hurst's Ham Bean Soup Mix we love, (only in the states) I stock up for the summer. I use the quick cook method and left them simmer for 90 minutes. I also sliced up a Peameal Cured pork Loin I got on sale to freeze some and have a couple of these tasty Peameal Bacon sandwiches  for supper, Another treat we love.
this Peameal Loin was $4:00 we will get a lot of mileage from it
wonderful Bacon slices
While the beans were simmering I went over to help our good friends Rob and Pat set up their satellite dish. So many trees in the way. Eventually we found a spot and they got a good signal then the beans ready to add the rest on the ingredients and another 30 minutes done to perfection. The recipe is on the bag.
This makes a huge pot of soup about 16 servings so I shared some with them and Gerry and Melinda they all enjoy this very tasty soup. And of course we enjoyed some for lunch today and a few more
this makes a huge pot of soup
oh so tasty
I finished  a Blake Pierce novel (Avery Black Series, number 4) "Cause to Save" and was going to read another author, but the last few chapters left me hanging so headed right into book Number 5. The story continues love these page turners with wonderful authors.
book number 5 and right back into it
really hard to put down
The fog has gone, clear blue skies and temps at 86F (30C) loving it and the next few days supposed to be clear hot and sunny temps close to the 100F (40C) with humidity. I enjoy that too, We can run our AC if needed go for a swim or shower to cool down. I think much better than trying to warm up in the winter and the freezing cold.
loving this summer weather we are having
This afternoon we did enjoy some wonderful reading in the shade, temps did get to 93 F (34C) Humidity about 85 % so feels much warmer, Ok Suzie said turn on the AC. for a while, No problem I can do that.
Then at 3 pm Pat Joined us for Happy hour, Rob was doing a repair on his coach and took Paul to the store for a part. We flapped our gums and shared some stories for a while. Then Rob joined us for a bit. They headed home for supper and time for us as well. Darts tonight.
in the shade behind our coach
yummy, the english muffins warning up in foil
a couple of tomato slices finished it off for me
Grilled some  peameal bacon for supper on an English muffins, sure did the trick , quick and easy before we head down to the clubhouse to play darts at 6:45 pm , having to much fun and maybe win?
There was 18 of us there and we got right into it. Ended up Suzie and I were on the same team.  Always fun when we play together on the same team.
Suzie doing her thing
Just after 9 pm we wrapping it up again we were in the playoffs and came in 3 rd place, So we won one dollar each ! Bonus!!!  We play 3 dollars each to play and because we are on the same team came home with money in our pockets for all that fun.
Just wrapping up this posting AC still on for a bit still 78f outside and 80% humidity soon will shut it down and open some windows,  Just about 10 pm soon time to call it a night.
Thanks for dropping on by and hope you enjoyed your day and if in the area ready for a very hot Canada Day long weekend, we are!

    1. The heat is wonderful here in my books. Always nice to spend some time with Rob and Pat whenever we get the chance.
Suzie has had an issue with her ankle for years and once in a while it flares up so the brace goes back on.

  5. I've heard a lot about this peameal stuff lately. Is it available in the States? I put the bean soup mix on my list.

    1. I have never seen the pea meal in the states Mostly a Canadian thing I guess. Like the bean soup only available in the states.

  6. The pea meal bacon looks delicious and so does your soup! How nice you made enough to share! Darts always looks like so much fun, amazing the number of people that turn out to play. Nice shady spot you guys have which is certainly nice considering the heat!

    1. The peameal bacon is very tasty as is the bean soup. And it makes a huge pot so I can share with our friends. Usually a good turnout for darts and a fun time. We have shade met of the day here until late afternoon, really enjoy it here.

  7. It looks like another great day - when in the shade. Neither peameal nor back bacon make it to my distant corner. We have to settle for 'Canadian' bacon, which is thin sliced back bacon in 4 oz packages $4. Enjoy it while you can! Thanks for the tip on Blake Pierce.

    1. It was a wonderful day outside in the shade with a good book. The pea meal and back bacon we have here is cured unlike the "Canadian Bacon" you can get in the states which is smoked almost like a thin smoked pork chop. Hope you are enjoying Blake Pierce I am really hooked.

    1. Hot and humid loving it. Not likely the pool on this busy weekend when they both will be filled with screaming kids having too much fun. But the campground showers tight across from us are nice and refreshing.
