Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Our day began with another beautiful sunrise on my first walkabout just before 7 am.
We were on the road by 8:30 this morning after our new friend Deb (
On a long Lonesome Highway) came by to say see ya later at some point on down the road.
Into Tucson and pulled into the Pilot/Flying J fuel island to top up our fuel and propane then south of Tucson to the Titan Missle Museum , they have rv parking here so was wonderful!
|
Now on this stretch of highway markers are in kilometres not miles! |
We arrived at The Titan Missle Museum click
HERE about 10:30 this morning decided to relax and enjoy an early lunch then take the noon guided tour.
|
entrance to the museum |
|
rv parking |
Check out the gift shop before our tour,.
|
freeze dried ice cream, ok in space I guess? |
|
will work if you have nothing else |
We did the orientation movie then out guided tour for the next hour with Craig , a very knowledgable fellow with tons of information.
|
information overload but was fun and educational |
Only 5 in our tour with one wheel chair so he decided we could take the elevator down instead of the 55 steep stairs.
|
this the elevator |
|
down we go |
Then he showed us some secure rooms that are all set for bomb vibration .
|
Suzie easily moved this 6,000 lb door
Super woman she is ! |
|
she even got a certificate to prove it |
Then we are in the control room, I was made captain and Suzie lieutenant ,each with our own control panels in charge of a nuclear blast.
|
me at the main controls |
|
escape hatch |
Now we had a simulated missile launch from the President of the United States. So had to open the emergency action book to carry through, me and Suzie.
|
control panel in front of me |
Now I had to go to my panel and Suzie hers , turn the keys to set the missile in motion, 58 seconds later it was launched, no stopping it now.
|
we go our certificates to prove we did this |
|
missile launched and on target |
This missile is a deterrent weapon only used if an enemy lauches a missile to the United States. There is 8 countries in the world that have these weapons and each country knows if one is fired others will be fired and the world as we know it today will not exist any more. So hopefully they will never be fired.
After we simulated the firing of the missile, we were asked if we wanted the good news or the bad news. Good news is we have a 30 day supply of food down here, the bad news is we will either starve to death or go above ground to nothing and die of radiation like the rest of the world.
These rooms are all prepared for vibration spring loaded floors and machinery to absorb and effect of the launch.
|
huge springs everywhere |
Next the 250 foot passageway to the missile silo.
This missile is not armed or does not have any fuel so is totally safe, this is a museum to see what was set up during the cold war many years ago.
|

This tour was amazing much more than we expected, so very well done and informative. To get the complete effect you really need to take this tour. $10.50 for adults $9:50 for seniors. Lets hope there is no world war three because nobody will ever see the end of it.
We done by 1:30 and headed up the road about 10 miles to the
Desert Diamond Casino Sahuarita to park for the night. This is a nice spot and very convenient for us.
|
courtyard by the casino |
I checked out the casino and back home for bit then Suzie and I headed in about 3:30 pm each to get a new players card and received each $10.00 free slot play and a $10.00 certificate for any of the restaurants in there. It was a nice overcast day but 83f with a nice light breeze, perfect.
|
a nice spot , free camping is good |
|
the casino not too far away |
We headed to the casino to see how our luck was today.
|
first Saguaro cactus we got closed to this winter |
Got our players card and worked the penny slots for bit with our free play,After 20 minutes I was up $9.71 and Susie $6:50. The buffet opened at 4 pm so we went in and enjoyed our free meals. Was a 2 for one buffet so we had a credits left over.
Nice Asian Buffet, lots of good eating here. Nice and hot and fresh.
|
small salad to start |
|
love hot and sour soup |
|
they even had a small roast pig being carved, this was excellent too |
|
lots of tasty choices |
|
very nice fresh Sushi as well |
We sure got out money's worth out of a free buffet then decided to head back to the slots with our meager winnings considering it was their money any way. This time we played the 2 cent slots for a bit. The I got a good hit!
|
ok I won $48.00 dollars and cashed out $52.29. time to take our money and run. |
Then to head back home to the parking lot any way. Nice lighted walk ways back to our coach, now to relax and soon call it a night
Now what a fun day this was , $19:00 for the Missle museum, Free buffet and free slot play, and walked out of the casino with $52.29 in our pockets. So with all this fun, the museum Asian buffet and slot play we ended up $33.29 cents ahead at the end of the day. Really whats not to love about that!
|
92.6 miles today |
Glad that you dropped on by and hope your day was a good one as well.

Where have we been this winter ?
Congrats on your big win! Not often I leave the casino ahead, I put $1 in the $1 slot and a single pull, that's it as a compensation for the clean restrooms and free coffee. The Titan site looks interesting. Will keep that in mind for a future trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff it was fun, we usually put in a couple of bucks for the free parking spot and clean washrooms too, Winning is a real bonus. The Titan Missle museum is very interesting worth a stop.
DeleteVery interesting tour. Will add that to the list of things to do and places to go!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite interesting and we have another one to do today.
DeleteInteresting tour. Looks like fun, with lots of educational facts as well. Congrats on the big score!
ReplyDeleteTake care, be safe,
Deb
Thanks Deb. it was a fun day, very interesting and educational.
DeleteIt is always a nice feeling leaving a casino ahead. If you cut out the museum tour and continue winning at the same rate you will be a millionaire in 53 years.
ReplyDeleteThe casino fun was nice and so was the Missle museum, being a millionaire at 121 yrs old does not much appeal to me enjoying life now is a priority.
DeleteWow what a wonderful day! The museum looks really interesting and fun! Food looked awesome and the fact you came out ahead and had such a great time, what's better than that?! Love your statement above me about enjoying life now! Good for you two!!
ReplyDeleteIt was another perfect day for sure. The museum sure is worth while. Food excellent and being paid for this was all a bonus too.
DeleteLive life today never know what tomorrow will bring.
The tour looks interesting will have to put that on our list of places to visit. Not a bad day when you enjoy a tour, have a nice dinner, park your home, and get paid to do so. Not to mention it started with a lovely sunrise. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys.
DeleteIt was another perfect Arizona day, really enjoying the part of the southwest.
Hi George...just wondering if you could either post or email a copy of your cards that you hand out to people. Would love to get some made, but don't know how much info is too much or not enough. Thank you in advance..mulequeen3@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI will take a pick and email it to you. We make our own and print them in our coach as we need them
DeleteWe just out on what we feel is important.
Thank you!
DeleteNo problem hope it helps.
DeleteYou were within two miles of my Arizona Lost Horse Ranch when you hit Highway 10 heading to Flying J Pilot. The Missile Silo tour isn't one I would normally take, but I did, and it was fascinating!! It's always a good day when you hit the slots!!!
ReplyDeleteWow but you are not there at your ranch yet, will keep that in mind when we head back east. We don't normally do museums but thought this was very interesting and it sure was amazing. Winning at the slots is a big bonus especially with their free slot play !
DeleteWhat a great day you and Suzie had! We went to the Titan Missile Museum back in 2016 I believe. We thought it was a well done tour as well.
ReplyDeleteYou had good luck at the casino. It is always a good day at the casino whether you win or lose if you are only playing with their money. The buffet sounded delicious and of course gotta love the free parking.

It was an excellent day all the way around, and being paid for all this fun , food an free camping a real bonus as well.
DeletePlan on taking the tour of the missile silo in Feb, when we meet up with our friends from Chicago. It sure looks interesting. Always fun when you win at the casino, agood time for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy the Missile silo very informative and well done. Always a bonus at a casino when we come out ahead with their money.
DeleteWin win win! A perfect day!
ReplyDeleteyes Peter it sure was!
DeleteDid you press the launch button on the one aimed at North Korea??
ReplyDeleteThe captain does not know where it is aimed, top secret!
DeleteThat area is very familiar to us! Lots to see and do around there. Keep on having fun and I am happy to see that some of Norma's slot machine luck has attached itself to you!
ReplyDeleteThere is a lots to see we like to a little bit every year . Thanks Norma for loaning us some of her luck.
DeleteThere is also a great copper mine tour nearby, with RV parking. Also there is a the Whipple Observatory tour, I believe it isn't everyday and you need to make reservations.
ReplyDeleteWe just did the Cipper mine today right across the road from the casino. Think we will leave the observatory for another time, Thanks.
DeleteHope you have many more days like that! :cD
ReplyDeleteEveryday is good this was was even better.
DeleteNow that was an awesome day. Thanks for the tour, I never knew that it was there.
ReplyDeleteIt was an awesome day, when we spend time in some areas we like to check out local things that interest us.
DeleteTitan Missle Museum was one of favorite places! I was the captain too. Pretty scary knowing hitting that switch can change the world.
ReplyDeleteYes Paul was petty scary but some reality set in and and was amazing what could happen.
DeleteWhat an incredible tour. I can only imagine that your experience, though it be simulation, causes one to think about the dire consequences of a nuclear war...no one wins. 30 days food and water and the starve or go up and be exposed to deadly radiation...wow!
ReplyDeleteIt was incredible, sure makes one think about the possibility.
DeleteJust catching up. You had a great tour here too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the big win! :)
Thanks Patsy.
