Where are we today ?

Well this morning at 7:20 am we went next door to
Apex Collision Centre to get our windshield taken care of. If you read yesterday's posting we had pulled into a Walmart in Clovis New Mexico. Just for an overnight stop. And while checking our coach noticed our windshield was about to remove itself from our coach. After a few quick phone calls and a referral the Manager at Apex Collision was nice enough to drop by and check it out for us. They open at 7:30 am and we said we could be there.
I carefully drove the coach there, about a 4 minute drive. And they were all there, emptied out a bay to pull our coach inside , on a chilly windy day.

this the place |
Once in there JJ , the manager took a much closer look and said that they may have to remove the windshield to do the repair but could possibly break the glass. No problem I said, we can't drive the coach like this. He did some checking for a new windshield. And because Clovis is in the middle of nowhere, it would take 4-5 days to get the glass. Suzie called our insurance company and they will cover it and our accommodation if need be.

JJ checking things out |
They do have a guy (Gerry I think?) here that specializes in windshields and he brought his van in and began checking things out. He shoved, fitted and had the coach rocking to reseal the windshield.
|
he has everything he needs right here |
|
they working on it and we crossing our fingers that the glass does not break |
The windshield is back in place, they did not have to remove the glass and it did not break. They are happy with it, ( and we are happy with it) they did their best that they could do for now and we should be good to go.
|
he did an amazing job, for about 2 hours with some help from JJ and a couple of others |
While they worked on it we spent some time in their comfortable waiting room, tv and we had free wifi as well, and of course they had fresh coffee for us too. Debbie took care of us here.
|
very nice waiting room |
|
this is what we saw yesterday |
|
not good ! |
|
all back together and sealed |
These people here are among some of the best for customer service, smiling, friendly and caring people. And took very good care of us in no time flat. And got us back on the road.
As we were leaving a couple of others came out to check out the work and they liked it too, it was like one big happy caring family here. They wished us safe travels and we were back on the road by 10:30 this morning!
|
On the left Debbie, an amazing secretary, and JJ one awesome manager |
Now talk about good customer service and caring people. We went to settle the bill and JJ, said, no charge it is on us! We could not believe it, they used their experience and a couple of hours of their time , fixed our windshield and no charge! These guys are amazing.
Needless to say I would recommend them at any time and if you are coming through the area and need their services be sure to check them out or stop and say HI, from us here George and Suzie at our awesome travels.

this mornings sunrise at the Walmart |
From here we hopped on 70 and headed to Roswell New Mexico just a couple of hours down the road and checked into Bottomless lakes State park.
|
100 miles of quiet roads, not as much wind as yesterday |
|
through Roswell and into the state park |
We love the New Mexico state parks, so beautiful large sites electric and water, free wifi and only $14:00 a night we will enjoy our time here. and maybe even checkout Roswell while we are here.
|
Beautiful large serviced sites |
|
you know it is nice when Suzie is in shorts in the shade 83 f this afternoon |
Once set up and our 5 lb chicken on the Weber Q I settled into a new book by Elizabeth Lowell for a while.
But kept getting interrupted by this roadrunner that kept coming around, our first roadrunner sitting this year, love watching these guys.
|
Then the scenery is wonderful as well |
I whipped up a fresh salad to go with our chicken for supper and was ready just about time for the sunset.
|
yes we do enjoy our chicken, leftovers and a pot of soup very soon |
|
tasty? yup |
|
and a nice sunset to end our day |
That was a great day we had, wonderful service, a nice short travel day, awesome weather, and a very tasty supper. Now tell me how can it get much better than that?
Thanks for dropping in and hope your day was a great one too!

Where have we been this winter ?
Boy O Boy, they have some great walking trails in that park. Two trails I really like is the one up to the overlook above Lea Lake. The other goes from Lea Lake along the lower level to the visitor center. That was a good stretch for me. The hike/bike trail over at the north entrance is another pretty good bit of exercise. I have the SP pass so I have less cost normally.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips Barney, will most likely check some if them out, the SP p[ass would be nice but don't think we can get one not being US citizens.
DeleteCheck the park visitor center or also look here https://newmexicostateparks.reserveamerica.com/showPage.do?name=common&commonPath=/htm/NM_AnnualPasses.html
DeleteThanks Barney will take a look.
DeleteIt's so great to find company's with good customer service...it's so rare these days. Are you sure that's a chicken you had for supper and not the road runner?
ReplyDeleteYou are so right good customer service goes a long way and is rare. That is a chicken the roadrunner was too fast and skinny.
DeleteWow! That's amazing that they did that for free! What an awesome company and in a place like Clovis. What great people! We haven't been to bottomless lakes so really looking forward to your visit there and pictures. Chicken looked awesome as always!
ReplyDeleteWe could not believe they did not charge us, they were all so interested in our lifestyle as well. Looking forward to checking this area out.
DeleteWow what a great deal on the windshield. Did they tell you why it happened. I can see from the shorts that you're back in warm weather.
ReplyDeleteYes Larry actually they did say that the body of the coach flexes and someone had added some caulking between the gasket and the seal, at some point not allowing the huge windshield to float as is is supposed to do. So it popped out after all these years.
DeleteThank goodness your windshield repair worked out so well, and the free labor is just amazing. Just goes to show that good people are still out there giving great customer service.
ReplyDeleteNow be careful around Roswell, don't want to see you abducted and spending the winter on some alien spaceship! :cD
We were very surprised, for the amazing quick service, and the price amazing!
DeleteWill be on guard for the Aliens.
That is terrific that the Apex guys did that for you so quickly and we all love FREE! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove the road runners, Bill has seen quail already in Mesquite but I'm waiting to see my favourite little buddies yet. Enjoy the state parks they are awesome and so reasonable.
It sure was a great job they did,
DeleteWe do love these state parks and will keep coming back.
I sure wish I could BBQ like you!!! Glad you got the windshield repaired!!!
ReplyDeleteWith the right BBQ and taking you time the results are amazing .
DeleteThis repair was a must.
I don't wish I could BBQ like you, I wish that I could just eat what you BBQ.
DeleteWell then you will just have to join us then.
DeleteGreat for the windshield fix. It's amazing that you can still find such great shops that really care about Service today. The good will that they have generated for them selves will pay them back over the years. Certainly know if I have any windshield or glass concerns in the area, they would be the first place I would go to.
ReplyDeleteAlso looking forward to you pictures of the area. Have always just passed through the area. Maybe its the alien thing?
The good customer service sure will go a long way.
DeleteWe have never been in this area and am sure we will enjoy it here. Aliens? sounds like fun !
Customer service is everything, from the coffee to the wifi and a comfortable waiting room, to the free service. Amazing! And then to end the day in a lovely place like that! Indeed, it doesn't get any better! Snow here this morning.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Peter, hard to find customer service like this anymore.
DeleteSnow! Oh my, not fun, keep warm.
We have run into that kind of service a few times too on the road! I am always surprised when I hear 'No charge!'.....thank you for sharing your experience!
ReplyDeleteYes Clarke it sure is amazing when that happens, really gotta love it !
DeleteWow, great customer service and really love the price! We will definitely keep them in mind if and when we might need them. Although this fall if we replace the passenger side windshield we won't be able to go see them, they will be too far west for us. :-(
