Holtville to Borrego Springs California and some amazing weather !

Where are we today ?
What a wonderful day we have in store for us.Early morning walkabouts. Suzie had her shower, putter around and secure our coach, no need to rush only a couple hours to travel on down the road. about 80 miles.
Hit the road by 9:30 this morning.
today's journey
Last view of the lagoon here we love,
for a week at least
Stopped by Harbor freight to pick up a tool I wanted then moved on down the road to Borrego. Passed by this huge white pile and thought it was salt?
we are below sea level
not salt is was Sugar
The Salton Sea
Taking this very rough road into Borrego Springs we found a nice free boondocking spot, Works for us!
a few neighbors not too close
All set up by noon and went searching for our friends Jean and Skip. Not too far away on Rock House road. Stopped for a nice chat and catch up with them enjoying this amazing hot sunny weather!
Now back to home dirt, time to whip up supper. Tonight a couple pan fried tilapia fillets on our Q and a tasty salad.
yep was good
Supper done and an early sunset with mountains in the west.
Weather today was wonderful temps in the 80s. Now that's why we are here.
Again thanks for stoppin in and hope your day was as good as ours!
Then amazing view's of the stars tonight here with no light pollution.

Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..

  1. 80's Wow! Guess we should plan on February next year! We saw that pile as well and it triggered an intense internet search that yielded up a lot of truly interesting information about the sugar beet industry in the Imperial Valley. Cool stuff.

  2. Most of the winter we've had the nice warm weather and you've had the colder weather. Well, it's turned and our furnace is currently on! We have yet to visit Borrego Springs but it's on our bucket list.

  3. Maybe Jean & Skip know where the Great Stone Snake is located. Actually your only about a quarter mile away from it but it's an uphill trek to see it.

  8. So good you are feeling up to the hike. Any wild flowers peeking out? On the way to/from Julian off S3 at the Yaqui Pass parking lot there is an easy trail to the overlook. Sat here with the kids eating Apple Mountain Berry pie with our fingers, I forgot the forks! It's my all time favorite pie at Julian Pie Company, enjoy :)
