Great get together with some of Suzie's family, a fun time.

Where are we today ?

         Happy Easter

Its is Good Friday and a holiday here in Ontario and most of Canada as well as 12 US states. Government offices, and most local businesses are closed. As well as on easter Sunday.
A comfy night again and this morning we are leaving Suzie's Mom and Dad's place moving over to Suzie's brothers for a few days. Only 10 minutes down the road a bit more room here.
10 minute drive and all set up in 20 minutes
satellite dish too
Settled in here then into Kitchener about 20 minutes away to Suzie's Aunt and Uncles' for our first Easter get together, with cousins and nieces, nephews are their families. I counted 28 of us in all for a 1 pm feast!
It is so nice to get together and catchup with each other the few times a year that we can get  together and enjoy a wonderful homemade meal.
Egg decorating
we had a huge spread of food
Bone in ham, (homemade mustard), sauerkraut,
taters, salads, easter egg, oh soo good
but then we had to have desert, cheese cake, trifle,
 cookies, fruits, rice crispy squares
Now after a huge meal, time to work some of it off. The easter bunnies were hiding eggs for the younger ones to search for and find. So the five little ones hunted the yard looking for these colorful treasures.

a couple here
searching, filling their bags
Rice crispy sculpture and fresh tulips
Then we just sat around and had many conversations going with different groups, sharing lots of interesting conversation. Suzie's Aunt pulled out the awesome quilt that is just about finished, cross stitched and hand quilted, excellent fine work and many many hours into the making.
very nice handmade quilt
As the afternoon wound down it was time to head back home with a couple of huge donated hambones (can't waste these), I boiled them up for a nice broth to make a large pot of bean soup in the morning.
Thanks Earlus and Delores for hosting this wonderful family Easter dinner, it was so nice to see everyone again! We still have 3 more family get togethers to go yet this weekend.
Want to thank you for dropping by today and joining us. Hope that your Easter weekend is as wonderful as ours.

  2. Love the quilt! Funny that you wrote about Good Friday. We were on the road today and noticed it was packed. Then, it dawned on me that probably some may have a holiday. We used to get it off but I wasn't sure if it was still observed as a holiday anymore. The holiday varied according to when and where you worked or went to school. I especially was surprised to find out that Canada celebrated it. Thanks for the info.

  7. Great family visit & dinner. Good idea - not surprising - that you would take and boil those ham bones for soup. Easy on the diet with the othecEaster meals to come.
