Where are we today
Gonna be a nice day "almost" but funky weather. Warm, cool, overcast, windy, sunny, rain, no rain, but at least it was warm about 17c (62f). But, hey we had no snow and thats a big bonus. We can sure handle that !We have an antenna souvenir fromArizona that is on the radio antenna of our car. But sadly it did not do well with our brutal winter we had here. Lost an arm and hat flopping , lips froze off , eyes gone weird, so today I had a funeral service for him (her) and planted a new one on our antenna. RIP Saguaro you have served us well.
sad to see you go , but... |
new cactus planted and we good to go |
My plan was a walkabout town but after a 1/2 mile down the road began to rain a bit so headed home, did not get too wet. Got only a mile done so over to the indoor track and finished another 2 miles there, feel much better now at least I got some walking in today. 3 miles total.
Then time to whip up supper, Suzie's request tonight was shrimp, so I cleaned some raw shrimp and marinated in olive oil and garlic, made a couple of shrimp kabobs to grill on our Weber Q and another tasty salad.
kabobs ready to grill |
crocuses in the front flower bed |
kabobs done after about 10 minutes |
tasty, healthy and hit the spot |
Glad that you were able to stop in again. Hope you had a great day too.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this past Winter.
It seems the further north we go the wet weather is following us. Tomorrow the winds could be gusting to 45 mph. Hope you don't get it up there.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
No problem here we are not travelling.
DeleteNever thought of marinating the shrimp in olive oil and garlic. Thanks. By the way, where did you get the new saguaro? I had one years ago and would like another. The frozen lips made me chuckle. :)
ReplyDeleteBought it at the Arizona Marketplace in Yuma, one vendor there as them.
DeleteSo sorry for your loss, but the replacement looks great. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks he was here for a couple years, but the cold winter did him(her) in.
DeleteHow many people carry a spare cactus??? :cD
ReplyDeleteI don't know but I know we do, gotta have one in reserve, just in case!
DeleteHaha...you had me going there. Thought you really had taken a baby saguaro from the south. Guess you have to get another one of the antennae saguaros next time you in Yuma.
ReplyDeleteWe always like to carry a spare, never know when an emergency pops up.
DeleteMan oh man, your dinners always look good. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob, they tasty and pretty easy too.
DeleteI didn't realize y'all travel with a mascot.... and a spare. How did I miss him when we saw you in Texas? Personally, I think you should have had him cremated and spread his ashes back in the southwest, but then maybe he was a snowbird at heart.
ReplyDeleteYep that's our mascot had one there even since we first went there in 2006. Been a snow bird along with us ever since.
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your cactus - may it "rest in pieces!" ;-) I have some shrimp that I brought home from Mexico and may have to try out your recipe.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cheryl, the Saguaro does not experience sub zero temps for a long period of time and beither do we, but we survived..
DeleteEnjoy your shrimp its very tasty.
Now you'll have to pick up another cactus in case you have to replace the replacement.
ReplyDeleteWe always have a spare or 2. gotta have one.
