Where are we today ?
Real cold last night below freezing, but hey we toasty warm inside, have the hundred pound quilt on our bed, Suzie has had for about a hundred years, or so.
Project today is we have a drip on our bathroom sink faucet, so my fix it project today was to stop it from dripping.

apparently had been dripping for a while |
This morning off to to the Ace hardware in Alabama. Nope they do not have the repair kit. Builder's Supply in Foley, nope not here either. Walmart across the road nope not here. But the friendly associate there said maybe an small old town hardware store. Or maybe Lowes/Home Depot etc.. 10 miles further down the road.
Not being a big issue I just headed back home. Passed by a small Hardware store in Robertsdale Alabama to check them out. What the heck this old guy here said, hey, you don't need this whole assembly, (for $14.00 dollars) just a new seat and spring, thats all that wears out. So for $1.89 I had a repair seat for 2 taps. Nothing like real customer service is there?

seats and springs for 2 taps on the left for $1.89, assembly for one tap $14.00. |
Now while I am doing this repair may as well clean the bathroom sink and while doing that might as well clean the shower stall too. Its been a while, like forever. Checking on the internet found a product thats good for acrylic (plastic) showers that we have in our rv's. Found this at the Dollar store and works wonderful. Cleaned all the hard water stains and soap scrum with very little scrubbing.
Once the shower and sink were cleaned I used this Gel Gloss that protects these surfaces and works amazing too.

Shower looks wonderful after 15 tears of use |
My next chore was to do laundry. Not a big deal Suzie sorts it I wander a few hundred feet to the laundry/ mat machines do the work and I get to enjoy my e reader. Take it home and she puts it all away, sounds like a good deal to me.
Ever have a problem with fruit flies?? We discovered them yesterday, so a simple fix is , small cup of cider vinegar. "saran wrap" or what ever over the top, cut a few slots and they will be there! And not around your head or your house.
|
we got this many in less than 24 hours |
Supper tonight gona try out these fish burgers on our Weber Q. Quick easy and very tasty, yes they have few additives but think the nutrition info works for us.
|
fish burgers and grilled peppers |
|
Green salad and a bean salad was wonderful |
Cool day but was at least sunny weather. We got things done and are on the road in the morning just moving on down the road.
Thanks for stopping on buy again.

Nice job on the shower and faucet repair. I can't count the number of seats and washers I've replaced over the years. Can't imagine having to hire a plumber all those times.
ReplyDeleteIf I hired a plumber everytime I renovated a house we would not have retired 9 years ago.
DeleteSeems like it is cold all over the US right now...cool at night here in Tennessee as well. Nice work on your taps.
ReplyDeleteThanks John, Arizona is hot and calling our names.
DeleteA good day - it's nice when domestic duties are done - right?! And a stellar meal to end the day. Not so cold here but I feel for you guys. Brrrrr…...
ReplyDeleteGet those small chores out of the way before they become large chores. And a very tasty meal it was.
DeleteGoodcwork on the faucet repairs. You are a jack of all trades.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm till the better weather returns.
It sure is nice to be handy and get a few things accomplished. We will be getting warmer soon.
DeleteKeep movin' George, the cool weather is stretched all the way south to Dallas! We are at the freezing mark here too and just a skiff of snow so far. It'll get worse here before it gets better..............in the spring!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe around the Gulf until next weekend then heading far west. You guys keep warm there back home.
DeleteWe've definitely had our share of fruit flies. I'm going to try your remedy.
ReplyDeleteThe fruit flies love the cider vinegar, but is not good for them, works amazing.
DeletePaul always gets better service and information in a locally owned shop. In my opinion, people take more pride in their work than in big box stores.
ReplyDeleteSmall business is run by people who care it is more than just a job.
DeleteWe always try to shop the local, small store dealers when we can. Jim especially has much better luck getting his repair stuff at the local hardware. Thank goodness we aren't dealing with fruit flies here.
ReplyDeleteLocal small stores most always give better service.
DeleteThanks for the info on Gel Gloss - I'll pick some up.
ReplyDeleteIt does a great job, worthwhile having on hand always.
DeleteGreat tips and yes Arizona is the place to be!
