Where are we today ?
In Canada it is Remembrance day in the USA it is Memorial/Veterans Day. No matter what it is a day that we thank and remember all of our war veterans for fighting and giving us the freedom we have in our countries.
Always brings to mind our Grandfather George Shepherd Yates (my namesake) who was over seas in WW1. He did tell me a few stories about his time there way back we I was very young. He was in the reserves for a while in WW11 but our father was too young at the time to go overseas.

First thing this morning I took a drive to Robertsdale for a few grocery items that we needed. Passed by some cotton fields and for the first time I saw the machines that harvest these crops.

Styx River |
nice trail |
While enjoying this great day what did we have? But a friendly dog came wandering right over to Suzie. She got another doggie fix! It was a runaway, so we put a leash on her and Suzie checked with security. She was a runaway from across the river. Got off her lease and was exploring, something dogs like to do. The owners showed up and thanked Suzie for returning her.
Then time for an early quick supper. Tonight couple turkey burgers, grilled pepper and tasty salad.
Then at 6 pm in the pavilion they had a Veterans Day service. A nice presentation and with cake and ice cream and a few Veterans here that we got to thank for their service to this great country.Lamar saying a suitable thankyou to these vets |
then a nice cake and ice cream, while we hung out and chatted for while |
Thanks again for stopping in for a peak, hope you thanked some Veterans or remembered some past war heroes and family members that fought for our freedom.

ReplyDeleteIt is a nice spot here, and the weather just wonderful!
DeleteLooks like you had a fine day. My dad and several family members were in WWII and would occasionally talk about it which got my rapt attention.
ReplyDeleteI always heard interesting colorful stories, wish I could remember them now.
DeleteI love listening to the stories of our relatives and grandparents. I wish that I had recorded all of them.
ReplyDeleteLove your redheaded granddaughter. What a cutie! I bet she doesn't appreciate her hair but she will, she will. You're going to have to fight those boys away.
Recording the stories would have been so wonderful, too bad we didn't.
DeleteEveryone just loves her hair!
