Wrapping up a few things on our last day here in Arizona this winter.

Where are we today ?

What another perfect morning followed by a wonderful sunny warm day. Got my first walkabout at 7:30 as the sun was really waking things up. Enjoying the views and watching a pair of roadrunners hanging out around this one trailer in the back of the park (seasonal sites).
love the pine trees here in the park
There was 2 Roadrunners that really seemed to love this trailer and the quad that was here, They were all over the patio and the trailer.
then up in their air conditioner
they really get around
Then by 8:30 I was in shorts and t-shirt.  Enjoying this wonderful weather, By 9 am had our awning out to shade our patio, from  the extreme hot  desert sun, perfect.
About 10 am our friends Scot, Laurel and their 7 children had secured the trailer and were on the road making their way back to Alberta Canada. We waved so long , wished them safe travels and hope to meet up again.
and away they go, bus full of family and their house following behind
Later on this morning I made another batch of Kale Chips, after doing them the other day we really enjoyed them as a snack or added to our salad, For the recipe click HERE  or my recipe blog top right sidebar .
I am enjoying these kale chips
Right after lunch a quick trip down the road to the Dollar general for a couple of items then back home. Right in front of me at the cash was this elderly gentleman with his hand gun at his side. We have seen this often but still not used to it here in Arizona.
open carry here is legal here in the wild west
Now to enjoy some relaxing reading time outside enjoying our e-readers, the warm sunny weather is calling us.
Below is a picture of this tiny dog pulling this sled, thinking of Deb and Riley with their dogsled (On a long Lonesome road) .
this dog pulling the dog sled lol...
After we checked our tire pressures, dumped our sewage and hooked up the car for hitting the road in the morning, Randy and Sandy came over for our final happy hour together here at this park. Of course she brought along some snacks, ( not needed) very tasty, spinach and cheese quiche.
Tasty snacks, thanks Sandy
of course the conversation flows, always fun to chat with another couple
enjoying this great weather
Shortly after 3 pm, I preheated our weber Q and set our ribs on, wrapped in foil with sauerkraut to get all tasty and tender .
Now for supper tonight are enjoying some baby back ribs on our weber Q for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
Removing them from the foil set on our grill mat slathered with a tasty BBQ sauce and spices until they were nicely glazed.
done to perfection
ribs, kraut and our tasty salad sure hit the spot
What a wonderful sunny warm desert day we had, temps into the mid 70' and intense sun. Wrapping up a few loose ends and ready to hit the road in the morning towards Texas slowly making our way back home.
And I missed another sunset here, other rv's in the way. but we knew it happened.
Thanks for joining us today and really hope you enjoyed your day as well.

  1. Sweet sad to be heading back north and east after such a great winter in the desert. I am sure you will be happy to be back in Ontario, and wishing you great travels as you head that way. You know I love your rib recipe, and I have lots of friends who love it too. It is my go to recipe for ribs.

  2. I have never seen anyone open carry a weapon in all the time I've been here. Personally, I always carry concealed. Why give away your hand.

That dinner of yours makes my three hot dogs tonight look pale. One for Yuma and two for me.

    Drive careful tomorrow.

  9. Seeing the gun like that does still freak me out. We're just not used to it even though open carry is allowed.
Glad Scott and Laurel got away and have arrived at their next destination.
Sad that we all have to make our way back home while we still have nice weather but at the same time, we still have our home with us and will enjoy each leg of the route.
    Travel safe tomorrow (today).

  10. Your recipe column is a wealth of information. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if there are different types of kale out there and some varieties might be more tough and need to be cooked. Or maybe it depends on the area where we buy it? Will give the kale I get here a try. Have a good trip.

  11. Tom agrees with Doug, he prefers to carry concealed. Though we have seen open carry out here but because we see it at home it does not seem that unusual anymore.
Sounds like a perfect last day. When we leave that park on April 2nd that will be our official start of the slow trek home, also. Safe travels.

  13. I'm going to have to try those kale chips! Ken carries concealed too. Nevada you can drive around with gun in the windshield or anywhere in vehicle but why let the bad guy know you have a gun? Travel safe you two :)
