Where are we today ?

Don't think we had anymore rain overnight, at least I didn't hear any (hmm, maybe if I slept with my hearing aides in). But up early as usual and about 48F (8C) outside, not too bad at least no wind. You know when we thought about it this past winter in the southwest we have had some wonderful weather, sunshine and no rain that we remember, until we got to Texas this spring. We had mostly sunny warm days. some wind but exactly what we enjoyed. I got an early walkabout and tried for a picture of the Sailboat bridge still lit up over the lake into Grove.
|
this bridge looks amazing from our site |
|
love the night lights on the bridge |
Next I put a pot of
Hurst's Hambeen 15 bean soup on to cook, added a couple of smoked pork hocks for extra flavor and a bit of meat. Using the quick cook method it takes about 3 hours altogether, the longer the better I have found.
|
love this soup mix |
Shortly after 8:30 this morning Bill and
Patsy were getting ready to pull out and hit the road heading further east and north. After a couple hugs and wishing them safe travels they are on the road again.
|
just checking things out |
|
safe travels guys |
Then I made a quick trip to the store to fill up our 5 gallon jug of RO purified water. And while in Grove I saw this amazing migration of birds heading north, Hundreds, if not thousands, many huge V formations, what an awesome site to see.
Back home to finish this soup and enjoy a tasty lunch. We both enjoy this very tasty soup so thick and hearty, almost a stew, only available in the states, we will stock up before crossing the border.
|
removed the pork hocks and some meat for the soup |
|
smells so good cooking too |
|
oh yummy |
After another walkabout we almost had some sunshine. So set our chairs out and enjoyed some reading outside for a couple of hours, it did get to 66F (18C) but still overcast, until a few sprinkles about 3:30. so chairs away again.
|
campground, quiet now before Easter weekend |
While enjoying our e-readers we watch 2 couples of Canada geese squawking around, feeding and drinking from the puddles here.
|
love watching these Geese |
Soon time to whip up supper, tonight a small pork tenderloin loin roast on our Weber Q accompanied by a small salad and the rest of our cabbage, carrots and corned beef.
|
the pork done to perfection on our grill mat with a nice Texas Rub we like |
Yup we had a feast, really hit the spot, very tasty and of course more left overs, always good for light lunches.
|
Yummy salad, roast pork, Corned beef, cabbage and of course some applesauce |
That was our very relaxing day, not much rain, outside for some walkabouts and reading, just me and my sweetie, and a very tasty supper. This sure is the life we enjoy.
Then we had a sunset that was unexpected and kinda cool after next to no sunshine all day.
|
across the pool |
|
right from our patio, very nice |
Thanks for dropping on by and hope y'all had a great day as well.

Where have we been this winter ?
Looks like you're not the only snow birds heading north. It is fun to catch the flyover on the migration paths. We sure do not have anywhere near those numbers.
ReplyDeleteYes it was fun to see a flyover like this was really amazing and they were really moving too, gonna beat us home.
DeleteI bet it was neat seeing that large of a migration...incredible the innate patterns they fly with such formation.
ReplyDeleteYour 15 bean soup looked really good and made me want to get some a make a meal for us.
Safe travels.
I have never seen a migration of this size before it really was amazing.
DeleteLove this soup you will get many meals out of it I know we do,
That soup looks amazing. I'll have to find some of that mix before we head home. I love ham hocks. So tasty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good soup mix, you buy it most anywhere here in the states, Ham hocks are a nice treat too.
DeleteGlad you had a nice almost no rain day so you could walkabout and sit outside for a bit.
ReplyDeleteSoup looks good for you to enjoy for a few days.
Take care and keep on enjoying the park!
It was a pretty nice day mostly outside, and the soup another one we love.
DeleteWe will enjoy it some more and you guys keep travelling safely and enjoy your next destination.
Your pics with Sailboat Bridge are beautiful! Soup looks delicious and of course dinner. Nice to enjoy the park while it's quiet.
ReplyDeleteThanks love seeing the bridge all lit up. And of course this soup is oh so tasty.
DeleteWe love it when the campgrounds are quiet like this.
Wow those bridge pictures are gorgeous!! Your rig looks a little lonely ... just wait for Easter weekend!!! Your soup? Another one to add to my to-do list!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy it is nice to see it all lit up. Could be a busy weekend but we leaving Sunday anyway.
DeleteThe soup very tasty good for quite a few meals.
You always come up with interesting meal ideas and thanks for the pictures of the finished dinner. If the birds head home now then they must know that Spring is only a few days away. Lucky you to get that shot of the migrating birds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marlene always find something interesting for meals.
DeleteWater weather will be nice and hope it comes sooner than later.
The migration was amazing to see, glad I got a picture.
Your sweet little home looked very lonely out there in the field. The geese are in the Klamath Basin now as well, on their way north, but resting in our gorgeous refuge. I love watching the geese fly.
ReplyDeleteWe are all alone but not lonely just the way we enjoy the campgrounds.
DeleteI love watching them fly their formations they are so much fun to see.
Glad the rain is letting up for you folks. Always sad to see friends leave but always fun to look forward to seeing them again.
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks amazing I'm going to see if I can find some of that as well.
The rain has let up now some sunshine would be wonderful.
DeleteWe will see Bill and Patsy again next week if all goes well, You should be able to fund that soup just about anywhere in the states, not in Canada though.Read the recipe on the back and make sure you have the ingredients to make it.
Hi George
