Huachuca City to Las Cruces New Mexico. Enjoying the journey as always.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A great sleep last night  and up early as usual, got the coffees, computing and walkabouts taken care of. It was so nice out at 7:30 with the sunrising and no wind I put my shorts on right away. All we had to do this morning was put our satellite dish away, unhook from power and secure the fridge and stuff. Not a  big hurry today only 244 miles to travel.
nice sunrise right out our dinning room window
The walkabouts peaceful and relaxing here, spotted this bunny by the washrooms having breakfast.
nibbling away
and away he goes
Now we on the road again, heading south to I-1O then east a nice easy drive.
Heading east in I-10 past Dragoon Rd and the Texas Canyon rest area, Always love this area with all these amazing rocks just hanging on the edge waiting to fall on us.
Now just cruising along the wide open spaces
not much traffic at all
not long we are into New Mexico
the land of Enchantment , really love it here too
really got to watch for the dust storms.
we have been stuck in a few over the years
Navigator can take a rest,
easy drive for the rest of the day.
And what a perfect travel day it was we just got on I-10 eastbound, stopped at the first rest area in New Mexico and had a light tasty lunch, Bonus today was a 30 mph tail wind getting great gas mileage, barely had to touch the gas and we sailed right along. We have experienced this before on this stretch of road and is really a bonus. Then carried on to the Los Cruces Overlook Rest area, arriving at 2 pm . Love this rest area have been here so many times and is a wonderful spot to stop for the night, They have 12 Rv parking spaces here, perfect ! This roadrunner is made out of recycled materials, running shoes computer parts and so much more.
This Roadrunner was refurbished in 2012 and is now back in place, we came through a few years and noticed it missing, nice to see it back in place again there is a link HERE about it. Love seeing it here again and right outside the windshield of our coach.
just love seeing this guy
all recycled parts
This is my posting if you really want to see a very good posting all about this rest area and the roadrunner? Look at this one from the Bayfield Bunch, Al has some amazing pictures. He has a much better camera than I do. Thanks Al !
We pulled in here and circled around until we found the perfect parking spot sheltered from most of the wind. With nice view of the roadrunner as well.
perfect spot to keep an eye on the roadrunner
Got a few walkabouts here  checking out these wonderful views. looking east towards Las Cruces  such an excellent lookout.
nice picnic shelters here
They even have a doggie potty here with a fire hydrant .
Supper tonight is one we like to make when on the road easy, quick and tasty A very simple Chicken Pot Pie, enough food for 2 meals, for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
so tasty
added a small salad and we are well fed
Just as we finished eating got to enjoy a very nice colourful sunset, right here in this rest area.
took a picture of the night lights over Las Cruces.
it does not do it justice but you get the idea
244 miles today
That was our nice easy travel day putting some miles behind us and really not pushing it. With a perfect travel day.
Wanna thank y'all for travelling right along with us and hope your day was a great one as well.

  13. We're not real fond of overnighting at rest areas. Of course, there aren't many Walmarts in the middle of nowhere. Safe travels.
