Where are we today ?
Sunny morning and all is good, not as cold as it was around the freezing mark but the sunshine feels amazing! Coffees and computing done I made a trip to New Hamburg to the Wilmot Center about 8:30 to get in a 3 mile walk on the indoor track (36 laps), picked up a few supplies and back home to whip up a light lunch.

Suzie reading and indoor kitty (Molly) keeping her company |
|
long icicle dripping from the eves |
|
the trees in the yard look so pretty with a light dusting |
|
not much snow last night was wonderful |
After lunch took their Acura to Zehr's garage in town for a new headlight. This took a while so I got a nice walkabout Tavi. Does not take long in a small town.
|
Grocery store is the Valumart |
Some nice really old homes here as well, love small towns, This tour is for Al
(The Bayfield Bunch) he grew up here many years ago. A few years before Suzie hung out here, with the Mennonite teens.
Then the Tim Hortons coffee shop, Al has been to a few times over the years. Below.

Timmies |
|
I believe this is the house that Al grew up in many years ago. The train to Toronto used to go right by the house |
|
Tavistock Water tower for Patsy |
Then I wandered down the main street across the 5 point corners, a busy intersection in town.
|
Good Chinese food here |
|

|
Suzie and Molly still reading |
Now I fired up their huge Weber, gonna grill a nice chicken picked up on sale at the Value Mart in town. Only 5 bucks , and we will get a few meals out of this.
|
the pond is still flowing , so nice |
I used a moist chicken rub I found in the fridge, browns the chicken nicely and was so tasty.
|
gotta love cooking on a Weber |
|
with our salad was amazing |
Supper done, boil the carcass for some chicken soup, in the fridge to cool, then we can call it a night. Watch the tube for a bit.
Hope you had a great day too, we sure did, love this sunshine !
Thanks for stopping by,
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Fall and Winter..
The snow is pretty to look at but I'm glad we're not there when it's so cold.
ReplyDeleteThe sunshine is wonderful, not so cold anymore, Still looking forward t southern California next week.
DeleteI love looking at old homes. They knew how to build them back then.
ReplyDeleteThey sure did build some amazing homes back then in the good old days.
DeleteAnother round of snow heading through Ontario again tomorrow. Looks like we'll both be getting it but it'll all disappear early next week.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Don't think it will amount to much though. Then it will warm up nicely.
DeleteThanks for the nice trip down memory lane George & I recognize all those houses & buildings. You were close on your guess where I lived but the house I spent my teen years in is on Hope Street East just behind that big house you took a photo of. It is located right beside the Veterinary Clinic. The house I spent my childhood years in is located just a couple hundred yards northwest of Tim Hortons on Station Street.
ReplyDeleteNo problem it was nice to do a short walkabout waiting for the car, I was doing this from memory, and it is very short ya know. The weather was getting nicer and the sunshine was so wonderful.
DeletePassed through Tavistock in all directions my enitre life (grew up in Woodstock). My mother spent her last three years there in the nursing home. Nice little town.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice small town and I have been passing through here for 46 years now.
DeleteThat snow doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon. Hope you can survive until your flight south! :cD
ReplyDeleteThe snow should be pretty well gone next week before we head back south. Is warming up nicely.
DeleteThank you for the tour of Tavistock, George. I love the old homes too as long as I don't have to maintain them! :) Bill's oldest daughter still calls Tavi her home and she shares a newer home on Leibler Cr with her hubby and 4 little hockey boys. Love the water tower, thanks for thinking of me!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see a water tower I think of you, lol.
DeleteRoss and his son and grandson are big into hockey here.
Tavistock is a nice town. Everything looks so hometown. I miss living in Baden the way it used to be:)take care guys!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice here, love small towns.
DeleteNice walking tour George.
ReplyDeleteThanks it was a nice sunny day for a short walk.
DeleteEnjoyed your tour. Looks like a lovely little town. Almost makes me miss the snow and I repeat almost...:)
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice small town, but do like it better in the summer.
DeleteAs Pat mentioned, my daughter lives in Tavi. They are also into hockey. Your family probably knows the 4 Roth boys and their dad Dennis who are all into hockey there also.
ReplyDeleteThat is very possible Suzie has a few Roth relatives in the area, they could be related.
