Where are we today ?
The weather guessers did it again, supposed to rain today but did not happen until late afternoon. Are we disappointed? Think not, but sure like when they make these mistakes.
Today we have a plan, a little day trip in our car to visit with friends we have been trying to connect with the last two years. We met them over ten years ago camping in Algonquin Park and have touched base over the years. Sharry-Lynn even visited us when we camped on Stone Island in Mazatlan Mexico, Feb. 2010. Their cruise ship was docked there for the day. So this morning was the day a 2 hour drive to Oshawa Ontario and we met up at 10:30 this morning.
Had a great visit, catch up and hang out. They had a huge tree dropped in the yard the last two days and a neighbor brought is cool Kubota tractor to begin removing some of the large logs from their yard.

Now after a great visit (too short) we wanted to head back home and miss the Toronto traffic, rush hour. So about 1:30pm we hit the road and sailed right through the city with only a couple slow downs.
Back at "Camp Awesome" by 3:30 pm and all was good here. Got our books out to read for a bit, and set up our Weber Q .

the leaves are colorful and almost done |

a cloudy day but not too cold |
|
Buddy and Molly came to visit |

Buddy is a happy puppy |

I had a couple treats for them |
Then we fired up our Weber Q (its been a while!) Grill a couple pork chops, acorn squash (with honey) and a fresh bun with garlic butter and cheese. Added to that some Ramen noodles with peas we sure had a nice tasty supper tonight.

our Weber Q does the work |

That was another busy fun day trying to tie up a few last visits, but really not enough time left to see everybody that we would like to. It has been a very busy summer for us but has given us a lot of family time.
Thanks again for stopping on by and hope you enjoyed your day too!

ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice visit with friends! It's so cool all the great people we meet along the way...people we would never know unless we traveled in our homes! Enjoy your last few days at camp awesome!
Yes we are ready to go!.
DeleteAnd like you said so many people that we meet in our travels and become good friends.
There's definitely a lot to do when you get ready to head south. The planning and anticipating is definitely exciting.
ReplyDeleteWe are ready now its just hurry up and wait....
DeleteNice you got to meet up with your friends, but like you said never enough time to see everybody. Looks like you were getting your doggie fix yesterday too! Beautiful dogs they both are. Got to go to the store today to get myself an acorn squash they sound so good to try with the honey, Do you make your own cheese bread? Wifi is doing pretty good at Mountain Lakes (ROD) Maybe check it out for a winter stop. We are planning some time at Mountain Lakes, DHS, Yuma, and the Q Hope we catch up to meet.
DeleteWe are planning Pilot Knob for Christmas and New Years, Holtville BLM, Quartzsite, and then maybe DHS and Mountain Lakes.
DeleteI am sure we will run into each other somewhere there.
Would be awesome!
I just butter 1/2 a bun, add garlic powder, parsley and cheese on top works great. Toast on the Q or in the oven
