What a wonderful way to start the day, shortly after 7 am I did a quick wash of our coach(including the roof) and car before it warmed up too much. About 45 minutes and I am done, does not take me long. Then by 9 am we are ready to hit the road for a nice day trip.
Heading to Marine City Michigan for 3 reasons. One for a nice day trip, two to pick up some Gluten Free Honey Nut Cheerios for daughter number 2, and three to stop at the duty free store on the way back to stock up on some cheap booze.

Now home for a light lunch, and just putter around for a while, enjoying our e-readers and watching this Robin looking for worms under our awning for quite a while, kept coming back.
Then I put some pork ribs on our Weber Q in foil with sauerkraut, on low for a couple hours. For the recipe click
here or my recipe blog top right sidebar. And for the last 30 minutes added a couple cobs of corn soaked in water for and hour or so.
Then remove the ribs from the pan, save the sauerkraut, and set the ribs on my grill mat and slather with some sticky, sweet, spicy bbq sauce for a while to nicely glaze them.
|
I added a salad and we had a feast, oh so tasty |
What a fun day getting out and about, spending some money, saving lotsa money and enjoyed the drive on a wonderful hot sunny day. The breeze in our faces and a boat ride to boot.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you had a wonderful day enjoying this amazing summer weather.
Now its after 9 pm and trying to post our blog , between chatting with people as they walk by, it is a wonderful evening and I am not in huge rush to get things done. After all I don't get paid by the hour anymore. Actually the government pays me not to work, like this job, getting old does have its perks. !
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this summer
Yucca
ReplyDeleteThanks Barney, much appreciated.
DeleteThe plant is some kind of yucca. Nice day trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks it was a fun trip.
DeleteWow, the tax on alcohol is really expensive. I'm sad every time I see fresh corn on your grill. The window here was fast and furious. The corn was ten cents an ear, but the window was only two weeks. :-(
ReplyDeleteVery expensive here for most things, our corn is about $5.00 a dozen but will get it for a while yet, some farmers plant early corn and some crops will come later si we have it for a long time.
DeleteWe have gluten free Cheerios out here in the Saskatchewan grocery stores. We don't eat the Honey Nut ones but I will have to check next time I do groceries to see but I am pretty sure that I have seen the gluten free ones as well.
ReplyDeleteThat is still a lot of money for a bottle of booze, I guess we will stick with being alcohol free for now.
Glad that you got out for a nice day's drive and saw some different scenery. It is always fun to take the ferry.

That is a lot of money, but we do like to treat ourselves while we are able, at least we are able to afford it.
DeleteI actually some some gluten free this afternoon in the local grocery store, it's about time they brought them to Canada.
It was a nice drive on a day with perfect weather.
Good day out. Quaint little ferry and duty free shop. Lovely. A good deal had on the alcohol. It's expensive here too and we also have free health care. Still my 14 pounds Pimms was cheap in comparison to that whiskey.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, but the high taxes sure do eat away at our budget, it is nice to be able to afford some luxuries for though.
DeleteAgree with everyone else. That is a yucca plant with the remains of the flower.
ReplyDeleteWonder why you can't get that cereal in Canada.
Thanks again for confirming that.
DeleteApparently the GF Cheerios are now making their way into Canada finally , they are becoming very popular and taste the same so why not?
Never thought of crossing to the U.S. by ferry further south than Sarnia. Looks easy and fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice trip especially if you want to avoid the city and see some new scenery.
DeleteTo my way of thinking, paying taxes on alcohol is small price to pay for our wonderful health care, I wouldn't be alive without it ----- alcohol we can do without, good health we can't.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, the health care is sure worth it that's for sure.
DeleteHmmm, maybe a day trip to Bellingham is in order... Love those ribs!
ReplyDeleteThe ribs are wonerful.
DeleteI would check to make sure you can buy more and pay the duty there before you go.
Looks like a nice little day trip.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice trip we have seen most of the sights in this area over the years, we had a purpose.
DeleteI love those ferry trips... felt like I was right with you. Food looks good... yep... that's a yucca gone to seed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming along for a fun day. The ribs always tasty.
DeleteEnjoy that booze slowly, savor every drop. That's a long way to have to go to get your favorite drink, but so worth it! ;c)
ReplyDeleteOh don't worry we sure will, but the day trip was fun too.
