Just another wonderful warm sunny summer like day. Got the coffees consumed, computing done, a nice walkabout town and down by the river about 7 am. then 7:45 a quick trip to No Frills in New Hamburg for some food stuffs to put together a Father's Day lunch tomorrow for Suzie's Dad right here at Camp Awesome.love it down the street by the river, so peaceful |
At 9 am we headed to The St. Jacobs Farmer's Market, about 25 minutes away. This is one huge market and one of our favorites, If you have followed us for a while you will know. I have been coming here for over 40 years and it just keeps expanding. We do know when to get there and what vendors we are looking for, so is a pretty easy process. When the crowds are less we explore a bit more.
In season right now is Strawberries and Rhubarb and all so good, lots of other great things too. Then inside for to Hilltop Farms for our wonderful Turkey Garlic sausage that we love. Even at 9:30 there is a lineup with about a dozen staff serving people.
This is the stuff, need to be early or they will be sold out. |
The other Vendor I always look for is the Pepperette Guy ( Kinda Like Pepperonis) I like to stock up with the extra hot ones, they are so tasty and just enough heat for me, too hot for many though. He sets up here and at Grand Bend Pinery Market.
local Maple Syrup, so good |
Mexican too |
horse drawn carriage tours |
huge helping Strawberries, ice cream and cake oh so good |
good crowd here |
Suzie and her Dad, so happy |
A later supper than usual grilled a couple pork steak local asparagus and a small salad. Di not need much after the Strawberry social this afternoon. The chops aren't that big lotsa bone.
Yummy |
No problem away we go and enjoy their wonderful landscaped yard and roaring fire. Of course we did solve many more world problems as well. Just That nobody listens.
Such a super couple |

Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this summer
Were too far from the centers of huge population to have massive markets like this. But this makes for a quiet country life, which we enjoy so much.
ReplyDeleteWe have the quiet country life, but close enough to visit this market, many people drive an hour or more to go to it. Still a few vendors come with horse and buggy.
DeleteThat looks like a market we'd really enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt is s fun market, so much great stuff here, you can spent a few hours checking it out.
DeleteWOW you did have a busy day but looks like fun. Love that farmer's market and maybe one day we'll get to visit Plattsville too. That strawberry dessert looks decadent bus delicious!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a fun day, and the fresh local berries are wonderful. Southern Ontario is a great place to explore and hang out.
DeleteThe farmers market is great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the reflection in the water.
Thanks it was a wonderful day here, love this time of year.
DeleteYou always seem to find the best markets around. I love walking through the ones we've been lucky enough to come across.
ReplyDeleteThe Strawberry Social is a wonderful event at the retirement home. It's nice to see all the friends and families show up. In the retirement home that Terry's mom is at there are many people there who never have visitors. It's sad that once they go in their family disappears.
We are always looking for farmer's markets to explore and support the locals.
DeleteIt is nice that so many here in New Hamburg has local families that can visit.
What a great day! I love those farmer's markets.
ReplyDeleteWe love them as well, always something new there.
DeleteYou've outdone yourself with picture of that strawberry ice cream cake. Now I have to find a way to stop drooling... :cD
