This was a wonderful day, and made some Avocado Venison burgers today.

Where are we today ?
No plans yet today so we will take it easy while we can. Few early walkabouts town, finish mowing the lawn, few minor things done and enjoy our e readers. Cooler weather but still about 70 f , we can handle that. Not warm enough for swim though, for us.
Nice walkabout this afternoon down by the river just a few hundred yards from where we are parked, so nice and peaceful here, thats why we love it.
the Nith River
nice home across from the Nith River
With this great day we gonna make some Venison Burgers for supper tonight. Good friends Norm and Pat from Galvin Bay resort near Buckhorn (Happy Hour people) where we were last week gave a present of one pound of ground Venison.
Have not had any wild game meat since I had my restaurant here in town (back in the 1990's), when I used to feed all the local hunters lunch everyday during hunting season. One day actually had 35 come in for lunch and I only sat 21, but managed to arrange more tables and chairs to squeeze them all in. Oh the Memories ! And a BBQ feast we were invited to with so many great tasty dishes from Bear, to Moose, Wild turkey, Venison, duck and more is was all wonderful.
These Venison Avocado Burgers are on my recipe blog on the right side bar or your can click out the link HERE.
preheat the grill and cook on low 7 minutes per side
dress your burger anyway you like and they are so tender
Just enjoying today as we gonna be busy tomorrow from sun up to sundown.
Nice of you to stop by for a visit again, hope you had a great relaxing day too.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Spring and Summer.

  2. Venison is one of my favorite foods, but I haven't had any in a lot of years. Squirrels are my second favorite. I don't hunt anymore but I still have great memories of fresh deer liver, yum, yum.

  6. Some "wild" meats taste too strong for me, but I think I'd like your venison burgers. Did you ever buy the venison/pork sausage that H.E.B. sells in Texas?

    1. Ideally pork and venison gives it some fat, but I did not want to any fat to the venison, and thought I would try this, worked wonderful! No strong taste at all.

  7. Those venison burgers sound pretty interesting! We haven't eaten any wild meat since we left Africa where we had Springbok and kudu which would be like venison as well as ostrich which is totally delicious and excellent for you, very high in protein and low in fat.

  8. I would love to have a night in the 70's let alone a day. Not a venison fan but I do like a good Elk steak.
