Thurs. Apr.7th 2011, Heading North Slowly!

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

As we have been saying the weather here is fantastic but we had booked a week at Wilderness Resort and time to move on, making our way north. Our next stop is Styx River Resort on the north side of I-10 (2.6 miles away) our shortest excursion yet. Save gas money!
today's journey 2.6 miles
We do like to keep moving every so often and this is it for a week. Across I-10 is one of many signs we see all over the USA, fireworks for sale is a big thing here.

Then we make our way down Waterworld road and pass the Styx River Shooting Centre right next to where Waterworld used to be (it closed in 2001). There is just a parking lot left.

Styx River resort is next to there and has really changed for the better since we were here last in 2006. New management, clean facilities, a very nice spot, members only. The managers Renea and Lamar really are doing a great job. This is another membership campground and is free for us with full hookups and free wifi as well, too bad we can only stay one week, but we do need to get back to Ontario soon.

nice cabins
They have a huge two story clubhouse with a stage, pool tables and equipped work out room. Two heated pools one indoors and one outdoors, a nice hot tub, hiking trails, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball court, nice cabins and even an on site restaurant open every thurs, fri, sat and sun and they serve beer and wine. Tonight is a gospel sing along at the clubhouse, I heard them practicing this afternoon in the clubhouse and two church services on sunday as well. Also a complete list of activities going on everyday something for everybody!
our site
We were checked in on our site and all set up before 11:00am, with our awning for shade, its gonna be a hot one. We had a bite for lunch then puttered about a bit. I noticed the coach next to us had Quebec license plates, unusual in membership parks but it did look familiar. Sure enough if it was Denis and Sandy we had met them April last year at Cherokee Rv Park in Tennessee. Such a small world. Chatted with him for a while then putterer around and a walkabout for a bit.

Now time to relax in the shade with our books, its about 92f (34c) just love it! Then around 5 pm I fired up the barbie to cook some potatoes with onions, grilled chicken breast that I had marinated, broccoli w/cheese and a tossed salad.
yummy
After supper was done and the sun set it cooled down to a very nice 77f (24c) inside and out, really don't want to spoil this wonderful heat with air-conditioning. Took advantage of the free hi speed internet then later a bit of tv before bedtime.

  1. We drove by so many fireworks places. I can't believe they can make so much money on fireworks. They can only sell them during a specific time period. I guess it is big business there.
