Ajo Market was a bust but we still had a wonderful day. Suzie whipped me at the golf course too.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it

Another pretty mild night windows open for a nice quiet good nights sleep.
As usual up early for some walkabouts and enjoying the wonderful desert sunrises.
our coach with a nice sunrise
spotted a crow in the tree
so nice to enjoy these views
a very nice washroom and showers here
so peaceful
even some tent campers here as well
Shortly after 9 am we headed into Ajo to check out the farmer's market. Nothing here that turned us on , mostly crafts and expensive baked goods, Nothing that we cared or needed to buy.
few people here but was nice outing
love this motorized bicycle though
looks, kinda retro

nice town square
with ,my honey
live entertainment was pretty good too
visitor centre not open yet
Then we did ride up to the open pit mine, just cause we could, Grabbed couple of pics but again the visitors centre not open until noon.
an amazing huge hole on the ground that
kept this area alive for many years
Back home we enjoyed a nice light lunch and the Suzie headed down to the Golf course with me.
this barrel cactus is blooming
A mini desert golf course here, clubs and balls to use.  No coyote around today so all was good.
Suzie in good form
the game was a close one
but in the end I think she cleaned my clock
no matter we had a fun time
me trying  to do my best
then a game of ladder ball to wind things up.
Now to relax in the shade, 83f  today so the shade is needed. Nice thing about boon docking is we can park any way we want. At this time of year our patio wants to be in the afternoon shade/ Awnings not a big option here in tje desert, just never know when a major wind will drop in. Some major reading time under our belts today.
Then  soon  gonna whip up supper. Tonight some country style bone in pork ribs( on sale at Olsens in town) I marinaded in this Marinade below.
some yellow desert  flowers here as well
ribs on our grill mat
added to a salad
ribs and salad so tasty and tender,
guys what?
more leftovers
Another fun desert day that just flew on by.
    Thanks again for stopping in.

  1. The AZ copper mines HUGE! Love him or hate him Bruce Babbit had a huge influence on the landscapes in the west both as AZ governor and then as our Secretary of Interior. Chops look great!

  4. The town square in Ajo and the buildings surrounding it are all really wonderful. Did you happen to spot the paintings on the walls down the alley behind the buildings, I believe on the south-side of the square. Tom and I thought it was a pleasant walk through.

  5. We enjoyed our visit to Ajo a couple of winters ago. The had a map of a walking tour through town that was fun to do. We even boondocked next to the Tourist office behind those arches and had a good night's sleep. Looking at the huge hole in the ground is something else!

Glad you made it to the mini golf and had a good time.
