Thurs. Oct. 21st,2010 Lewiston New York

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Well today we are on the road, pack up and depart the farm, on the road shortly after 9:00am. Twenty minutes from here we were driving by my daughter's restaurant and she was outside with our grandson chatting. So a quick stop and another goodbye was in order. Then just down the road from here we going thru another small village of Princeton. They set up a stop light to close the road while they loaded a dump truck.
We sat here for 15 minutes while they loaded the dump truck.

Then as soon as they opened the road for us to pass a very long freight train came along so another 5 minute wait. Small town stuff, there was no other way around this construction with out going about 10 miles out of you way. So we relaxed and watched them working, no big deal, we are at home anyway.
now the train

From here we carried on to the border crossing at Queenston/Lewiston at about 11:50 am. Just a short wait , about 15 minutes in line, but time for lunch and relax.  No problem here they check for terrorist vegetables and meat. Our onions, carrots and lettuce were deemed safe to cross the border. All of our meats passed the test, good thing we did not have any goat or sheep meat, apparently they have been know to be a threat to the country. Our closets were checked looking for hidden stowaways, just can't sneak anybody in.

So from here our first stop is at Smokin Joes Gas bar to fuel up our coach $2.78 a US gallon (or .74 cents a litre). We just saved $50.00 on a fill up of 175 litres for our coach. Then on to Lazy Lakes Resort, and set up on our site. Then a quick trip to the store for some more bargains, Beer. $14.49 for 30 cans, potatoes $1.67 for 5 lbs, large eggs .79 cents a dozen, Canadian  whiskey $12.99 for 1/2 gallon. So much less taxes here the deals are fantastic for us Canadians. Its almost like getting an extra paycheck.
driving thru the campground

Well back home, time to make supper, and its one of our favourites tonight a cornish game hen with "Swiss Chalet Sauce dipping" and a rice pilaf, so yummy, we even had leftovers!

After supper we noticed Bill had arrived to occupy their trailer for the night, so we stopped over for a bit of a visit before turning in for the night.
