awesome sunrise at the farm
What a nice sunrise looking out the left side of our coach across the fields. Every sunrise and sunset is unique and we are so lucky to be able to enjoy so many of them in various parts of the country, across the fields, the plains, the desert, the mountains, lakes and oceans. A bright colourful sunrise is a fresh start to a brand new day so we can experience another exciting adventure. So first thing this morning was chatting with mother and arranged to stop by for a visit. This being arranged I took our car to Pettigrew's Garage for an oil change and tuneup at 8:00am. Back home picked up Suzie then of to Waterloo and pick up a few more last minute things. Pick up mother then off to Harmony Lunch on King St, a Waterloo landmark now for 80 years. Its amazing to see a business especially a small family business in operation for so long. The decor is "original old" not retro, with the old counter, stools, hardwood floors, arborite and chrome tables and chairs, juke box, even an old phone booth (which now houses an ATM machine). Mother had a western sandwich and Suzie and I both had the legendary hamburger and fries. The hamburger patty is made from seasoned ground pork and portioned out of a huge bowl with an ice cream scoop onto a flattop grill and then fried with a mountain of fried onions off to the side. So tasty and brings back memories for me as I have been here frequently (but not lately) over the last 40 years. Another thing that you notice at the cash is all sales are cash only, no credit or debit cards, no written bill just go to the cash and your waitress is there to ring in your meal for you, good food and old fashioned friendly service.
From here we returned to mothers for a bit then off to New Hamburg for a short visit and install a family tree program onto Suzie's father's computer. With this accomplished back home to wrap up a few more things and email two other couples that we have connected with to form a possible RV convoy from Tucson Arizona to Mazatlan Mexico at the end of November. One couple that we sort of met there last year and another couple that we have shared a few emails with and have been reading our blog. So it looks like safety in numbers it shall be, and a new experience for us, traveling with two other couples.
Now its time for supper and we will work on cleaning up some leftovers tonight. Sandy's very tasty cabbage rolls and cabbage casserole, which is always better reheated, and some fried leftover mashed potatoes and veggies.
