Where are we today ?
This morning we are having a spring rain, temps just above freezing so helping to remove the snow and wash away some of the winter dirt. Soon the grass will be growing trees budding and flower beginning to bloom.
At 9 am in Plattsville Grandson number 4 was to have what I heard a fun hockey game, tournaments over so this looks like one more kick at the cat. This is very different than what we have seen before.
Two mixed teams on the ice for 45 minutes. Non stop playing. Only One face off and every 2 minutes a horn blows, they stop where they are leave the puck and change shifts on the fly. His team had 4 players per shift and the other team 5 players per shift. These kids had nonstop fun and so did we. It was a very fast paced 45 minutes, no penalties, no whistles, after a goal was scored they carried on.
thats him #19 |
and again |
This was the final score with his 4 player team defeating the 5 player team |
these kids skating their hearts out |
Next home at noon had a quick lunch and Suzie took her Dad to visit her mom. I ran a few a errands while the house was shown again at 1 o'clock. Back here unpack stuff and check supper going in our the cooker. Then when Suzie got back from Kitchener at 4:30 headed back to Plattsville to watch Daughter number 2 on the ice!
Now this is a very special event for us. From when she was 5 yrs old to12 years old figure she skated, practices and competitions, costumes and many medals, spend a few years in arenas with her back then. We have not seen her skate since that time as she wanted to participate different sports, basketball, volley ball etc... That was 18 years ago... seems like yesterday.
She has never skated on hockey skates and just picked some up last night, borrowed some hockey equipment and hit the ice to try out playing hockey. As she said it was on her bucket list, good for her.
there she is on the left, ready to hit the ice another good friend with her |
she never played hockey on skates either |
thats her getting the hang of it, she can still skate very well, just a little different with hockey skates |
this whole week has been one of great memories really worth putting up with this cold weather to see. |
scooter in the lobby |
kids playing catch on the street |
and around the corner, road hockey |
yummy |
Thanks for stopping on by and hope you enjoying some nice spring weather too.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this past Winter.
That level of activity does fit the 'busy cycle.' No movement on the house to date? Spring should help increase real estate activity.
ReplyDeleteFun hockey stuff though.
Lots of interest on the house 22 showings in less than 3 weeks thats a lots of activity, it is in and ideal location but a rather large house.
DeleteThe hockey stuff was excellent.
Please pretend you're a journalist and ask your daughter what it was like to play ice hockey after years as a figure skater. (Please report her response.)
ReplyDeleteI will see what I can do. That would be fun !
DeleteCan you also explain the difference between the two types of skates, I had no idea hockey skates were different.
DeleteThis is a good explanation of the 2 types of ice skates I found on the web.
DeleteFigure Skates have toe picks on the front of the blade, which are usually made of some type or sturdy and very strong metal. The toe picks used for jumps in figure skating. Figure skating boots are typically made of several layers of leather and the leather is very stiff to provide ankle support for jumps.
Hockey skates-Hockey skates are used for playing the games of ice hockey and ringette. The boot is generally made of molded plastic, leather (often synthetic), and ballistic nylon. Skates used in competitive hockey rarely use molded plastic for the upper boot, as this results in limited mobility. All hockey skates (excepting goaltender's skates) are designed such that they will not cause injury to an opponent, and are fitted with safety blades.
Good to see there is some real land underneath all that snow... we will be back up there in about a month, so things better start warming up! Glad to see you are too busy to really notice the snow and cold! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteShould be all cleared up by the time you get here, about the time we were supposed to get back.
DeleteNo doubt you are having the time of your life with family even tho its been cold. Enjoy these moments
ReplyDeleteYes we sure are having a ball, all this cold weather has been worth it!
DeleteGreat memories for sure...I agree with Craig.
ReplyDeleteHope you and Suzie get some down time real soon.....
Down time will happen, maybe a quiet day today for a change we hope.
DeleteWhat another wonderful day although whirlwind.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very fun day, now maybe slow down for a bit.
DeleteI know you were really disappointed to have to return to the snow and cold, but the memories you are making couldn't have happened any other way. What a joy.
ReplyDeleteYes it sure is, and a great time after all.
DeleteHere Ibsit, wondering what to make for dinner tonight, and "by George" I think I'll cook us some ribs!
ReplyDeleteThe power of suggestion works pretty good, enjoy !
