Where are we today ?
Not as cold here this morning but it's prepping me for colder weather ahead. Chat with Suzie for a bit waiting for the sunrise then head north on I-75 through the Tennessee mountains. Beautiful sunny day all the way. Good roads no wind, rain or snow made good time.
366 miles today |
"Hello George and Sue…Kevin here…Jake’s dad in Austin. I just wanted to say, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping JAKE, after he ran out of gas! Not many people would’ve taken the time to do what you did.
Jake showed us his pic on your Blog…very funny! He’s told my wife and I how grateful he is to have met you. We had no idea he was headed our way; he surprised us! "
Thank you Kevin for the lovely email and glad that he made it home safe and surprised you.
I got on the road just before 8 am as the sun was shining and roads were clear. First day in a week I was not driving directly into the rising sun, nice!

i had to chuckle at your coach parked in the snow. That letter had to be a real feel-good.
ReplyDeleteParked in the snow is nice, But ya know the letter has made the whole trip worth while. Sure made my day!
DeleteI don't feel quite so bad now having to spend winter here in Ontario. Another fellow blogger is having to endure the cold and snow too. Safe travels George. Oh BTW I had to buy a new BBQ when we moved and guess what I bought???????
ReplyDeleteHmmm, hope it was a Weber!!!
DeleteAn amazing BBQ you will love it.
Wonderful travel day - getting closer. Love you maps I am checking on one I printed out. Sure lots of miles covered but your encounter with young Jake and his parents gratitude makes us all remember there is good in the world and it started with you.....travel safe ...cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie, for travelling along with us. It sure is an amazing liftesyle with all the wonderful people we meet along the way.
DeleteHey George.... You just made my day. All day (we're down here real close to the Mexican border) and I've been saying... with this weather I could still be in Ohio.... then... up popped your photos.... yeah, I could be in Ohio but I'd be wielding a snow shovel instead of rain boots.... so... I better count my blessings. You're making darned good time.... hope the rest of your trip is safe and without problems. Take Care!
ReplyDeleteRain boots is much nicer than a snow shovel you and I both know it.
DeleteEnjoy south Texas!
That letter from Jake's family was a perfect example of paying it forward. Nice of you George!
ReplyDeleteThat letter made my day.
DeleteYaaaa! So glad you are almost home. So glad you helped out Jake! Often times we hesitate to help out not sure of the motive…… Nice that his parents wrote to you. It's been a good ride - safe trip home tomorrow George! Suzie will be thrilled!
ReplyDeleteThanks me be thrilled too!
DeleteWow! You're making great tracks. Easy does it on the last stretch. Keep safe!
ReplyDeleteThats my plan, to get there safe and sound.
DeleteGlad your helping Jake showed the world some people still care.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't have any problems with the bad potholes in Michigan. You'll be able to give Suzie an extra long hug tomorrow night but you'll be running the heaters to stay warm for sure.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I keep and eye on the road pretty close. Comfy here tight now no problem.
DeleteSo glad that the weather is holding for you and the last leg. I believe that all of us, your blog readers have had enough positive thoughts to keep the weather at bay.
ReplyDeleteThat will do it for me, keep them going, thanks.
DeleteThat is so neat about Jake. Glad he made it home safe and sound thanks to your kindness. And you are really close to home also which is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYep the closer the better than I don't have to worry about driving conditions.
DeleteGreat job George, always nice to get some recognition for going above and beyond to help others. Continued safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it just felt like the right things to do. Thank you.
DeleteThat Jake story is sure a keeper!
ReplyDeleteIt made me feel real good that I could help him out and that it was appreciated.
DeleteWe ran into a fellow and his wife at a gas station not long ago. He was on the phone with his phone trying to figure out to get cash. He had left his wallet at the restaurant he stopped at last. We helped with his gas. He was most appreciative. It says a lot about Jake's family that they sought you out to thank you. Nice boy. Nice family. I bet that made your day.
ReplyDeleteHope the snow stays off the roads. Soon this will all be behind you.
Another nice story about helping a fellow traveller. I am sure there is lots out there. It does make you feel good to help someone out.
DeleteMore memories for the memory bank. then when I can't remember them any more I can come back and read about these new adventures.
Brrr. Motorhomes and snow do not go well together!
ReplyDeletewww.travelwithkevinandruth.com
No they do not.
DeleteI sure do agree that it was so nice of Jake's parents to take the time to write and thank you. Says a lot !
