Sat. Sept 17th, Curve Lake Pow Wow.

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Another wonderful fall day, and we find out that the Curve Lake Pow Wow is happening today and tomorrow. It is only a 10 minute drive from our resort to the reservation and everyone is welcome. We have never been to a real Pow wow so lets go. "Pow Wow means gathering or celebration".

So after a bite to eat we head over to check this out. Along the road thru the reservation past some stores and vendors where we find a spot to park our car and get a shuttle bus to the Pow wow, lotta people.  At the entrance I paid Suzie's admission ($7.00) but seniors are free, thats me!! I like this already.

Once off the shuttle we walked to the happenings and were not disappointed.
opening ceremonies
The opening ceremonies, with some singing then the drums, and dancing began. We walked about checking out various vendors and food booths on this beautiful warm fall day.

The intricate costumes with bright colours, headgear, feathers and the dancing in a circle to the drums was very interesting. Many of the dances everyone was invited to join in and pretty well everyone was in the mood to celebrate.

After a few hours here we returned home to read in the afternoon sun for a bit before it settled behind the trees cooling things down. Then inside I fired up our oven, and dressed a rising crust pepperoni pizza with all the toppings that we like, boy was it loaded, just the way we like it. Fresh mushrooms, onions, green pepper, olives, tomatoes and jalepeno peppers
so tasty
Now after supper we relaxed for a bit, chatting and reading a while then at 8 o'clock put on some warm clothes, hats, hoodies, long pants and even socks and shoes, grabbed a couple lawn chairs, a cooler full of beverages and made our way to the large firepit by the clubhouse for a nice huge campfire. With 50's and 60's music setting a nice mood for conversation, stories and jokes everyone had a great time, probably one of the last campfires here for the season.

nice warm fire
Eventually it was time to call it a night, getting much cooler so time to pack it in for the night.
