Heading west to the desert around Borrego Springs California

Where are we today
clic a pic to enlarge it
Just another desert day here up early and waiting for the sunrise to get things done and on the road again. Its been too long for us in one spot, even though we had fun with friends.
Walkabout at 7 am them we secured our coach, Suzie got her last Tucker fix for a while, We said see ya later to some of our friends that were up and out and headed to the dump station at 8 am.
Tucker fix for Suzie
No line up at the dump station, we pulled right in. Emptied our sewage, a full 2 weeks for us then refilled our fresh water. Into town top up our propane only 19 gallons for 3 weeks, and fill the coach with gas. Only 40 gallons not bad  since we last filled early December.
Hooked up the car and headed west on I-10 to Box Canyon Road towards the Salton sea and towards Borrego Springs California. Lotsa free boon docking spots in this area.
I-10 west
snow in those mountains near
Palm Springs

we have been there so now heading
 the other way
Nice to get off the freeway and onto a wonderful scenic 2 lane road that we have never travelled. Along Box Canyon Road to Mecca California.
so peaceful
this canyon road is
amazing
heading into Mecca looking like vineyards
so much salt here in the ground
Then we headed on to Anzo Borrego State Park looking for a nice boon docking spot.
a slow drive but no traffic
wonderful scenery
We scouted our a few places and settled right here. All set up by 1 pm PST. we gained an hour heading west, another time change.3 Hours earlier than back home.
a perfect very warm day
76 f in the shade, loving it
All set up , Weber Q and the satellite dish, now can relax in the shade and get back into another book again.
nice quite desert in front of us
the mountains behind us
desert vegetation is beginning to grow
after this winters rain
Our neighbour came by to say hi as they could smell my chicken cooking on our Weber Q. Nice couple from South Dakota.
With  the time change and close mountains the sun was setting just after 5 pm but we had planned for that.  But it also rises an hour earlier about 6:30 , much nicer for us.
Chicken done shortly after 5 and added to a tasty salad. A nice 5 lb chicken I pick up the other day on sale $4.80 we will get quite few meals from this plus a large tasty pot of chicken soup.
chicken done to perfection
spiced just the way we like it too
yummy
Now it is so nice to have a change of scenery, relax in the sun and enjoy the ever increasing temperatures at this time of year.Looking forward to seeing some desert flowers after all the rain we had.
Thanks for stopping on by and hope you had a wonderful day as well.

  2. Welcome to SoCal! With Clark Lake area so restricted it is getting harder to find good boondocking spots - yours looks great! As Daryl said that chicken does look good! Enjoy your stay, looking forward to following along

  8. We'll make it to Borrego Springs one day too, it looks like a nice spot. We are settling in here at a higher elevation in California but loving our full hookups and change of scenery too. After a month of just sand and sagebrush, I like this grass, trees and similarities of a Provincial Park without the crowds.
