First day back and darn cold, Guess Canada wants to let us know what we missed.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
After our good travel day yesterday and settled in at Suzie's brother's place by the shed for a while and a great dinner with her Dad , 2 siblings and their spouse last night, We settled in a for a good nights sleep. Comfy and cozy on a cold night back in Ontario. And SO quiet here. we had a real good sleep and back up again at my regular time 4:30 this morning. Its cold out there 35f  (1.6C) but feels much colder with the wind. We are toasty warm though inside. Got the usual coffee, computing and oatmeal taken care of and enjoy part of the nice sunrise through the trees here. And because of this cold weather a good one to make a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup, from chicken we cooked last week, I had the bones on the freezer. I boiled the bones for a tasty broth added the veggies and spices and let it all simmer for a couple of hours.
Then about 8:30 I took a nice country drive along some backroads into Plattsville. Stopped at Pettigrew's garage chatted with a few guys there for a while catching up and picked up a couple of packages that we had shipped there. While I was there we had a bit of SNOW ! Thanks Dean for holding these packages for us. And Also thank you Dean for the cool Santa tie that I just love. I had ordered a couple of new light fixtures for our Bedroom, to replace the broken ones with the sconces  that are beyond repair, Similar ones were about 80 bucks each but I found these 2 for 35 dollars CND, they should do the trick.
Then from there into New Hamburg to pick up our prescriptions we had ordered and a few groceries, plus our non alcoholic beer that we enjoy for a good price as well. Back home by 10 am Suzie was chatting with SIL Sandy in our house I finished the soup and we enjoyed a tasty lunch. At 1 pm still very cold, no sunshine and has warmed up to 37F (2.7C). Hmm not an outside day for us at all.
The Bridge on Bridge st is finally repaired and open
chatting at Pettigrew's and it was snowing!
This be the place for our repairs
My restaurant was part
of this building for 10 years
heading to New Hamburg
Back home and this is where we are parked , a bit of snow on the ground.
Finished my hearty soup and we enjoyed a tasty light lunch.
this sure hit the spot on a cold day
Still a bit of snow but we can live with that.
I made a quick trip to the Home Hardware in Plattsville for some electrical connections for the new lights taking river road, much more scenic in the summer.
River road a nice drive
yup it follows the river
Passed by our the house we remodelled and sold 13 years ago to go full-time, love that wrap around porch I put on and nice large drive for our Coach and car.
this be the house we worked on for 15 years
to make it pretty then sell it
So I did putter around for the afternoon, Installed the new light fixtures in our bedroom, enjoyed some reading time here inside. Nice we have our Blue flame heater keeps us very comfy makes no noise and uses very little propane.
these old lights are falling apart
all glued up but ready to break again

Did not take long to hook up the wires and install these
they are LED's as well
small compact and very bright
we love these new lights
For supper tonight I am making a very tasty recipe we had not had for a long time, Pork Tenderloin with Cranberries and Balsamic glaze for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar. Not a lot of prep at all and cooks every quickly and oh so tasty.  The Balsamic gives a sour tasty and the cranberries sweet perfect for a pork tenderloin a  tasty sweet and sour.. Now I upped the recipe because I did to 2 tenderloins for the 4 of us, and still some leftovers.
simmer until the sauce thickens smells wonderful
added to boiled potatoes, veggies and a salad
yes we all enjoyed this tasty dish, roasted pecans on top
were perfect
Now here it is before we know it our day just slipped on by. Enjoying some family time doing repairs and some tasty cooking. Hmm glad we don't work anymore we would miss out on all this fun.
Thanks for stopping on by. Hope you had a warmer day thank we did, but heck tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer, we will take it. The is Canada EH!

  2. Your recipe for the pork tenderloin reads and looks wonderful. I'll be replicating it the next time I'm cooking pork tenderloin. I like the new lamps you installed. Look much like the ones we had on the boat. That would be a good next project for Benno because we don't like the lamps above the bed that came with the travel trailer.

  6. The new lights make it brighter, not warmer :) But with the continued cold weather the lawn mower can stay in the shed a little longer! and the hockey season can last a little longer ... Dinner looks delish!

  9. Soup looks good and works for a cold day, the pork tenderloin looks really yummy. The lights are pretty and I like that they face down so if your reading the light is where you need it not on the ceiling.

  17. At least you are now in Canada and not have to rush to beat the floods, storms and tornadoes that we are experiencing back in the USA. Do you ever feel melancholic when you drive by your former home? Do you ever question your decision to sell after all the hard work you put in?

I apologize if I am being nosy. I suppose sooner or later I will have to make my own decision and I hope I make the correct one.

    1. We do get flooding here and even tornadoes , just not as much as in the mid states.
We had no problem selling the house I have bought, fixed up and sold 12 over the years and selling this one allowed us to live this lifestyle. We enjoyed it for many years though. And had fun fixing it up. Now another chapter in our lives, soon we will be starting our 14th years full-time.
