A short travel day , with some minor battery issues taken care of.

Where are we today ?

Another mild night for sleeping and we slept well at 5 am 52 F and going to be a wonderful short travel day. Got my oatmeal and coffee intake, a bit of computing done then a few walkabouts this Flying J checking the store and all the trucks I enjoy watching. Walking into the Flying J at 6:30 can smell these amazing Cinnabons here baking and smell so wonderful, And I know Suzie loves these, So I picked up a 4 pack of mini ones to keep her happy , not bad price still warm and only $3:50 for 4  of them a nice treat.
We hit the road about 8:30 this morning for a wonderful travel day, Nice and warm, sunshine and no wind or rain , perfect!
Not far down the road we crossed into Ohio.
on I-70 a very rough road.
these tiny Cinnabons are excellent
 for a nice morning snack
Ran into some interesting skies along the way
love the sun streaks
Like I mentioned I-70 had some very rough sections, think my teeth rattled a few times, but all seemed to be good. Headed north on I-75 and stopped at a rest area 30 miles south of Wapakoneta. For a stretch. Hmm open our door and our electric  step did not got out.  So I jumped out used the facilities  here and climbed back in. Going to start our coach and NOPE nothing. A real nice feature with our motorhome is we have an auxiliary start, Push a button on the dash and start the coach with our house batteries. Coach started steps  work , but what is the problem?  So I checked,  looks like a battery cable broke off from our engine battery. Not, good. But with the coach running we headed north to our campsite in Wapakoneta,  got checked in and set up on a nice pull through site. by !0:30 this morning.
We enjoyed a tasty light lunch then I went into town 3 minutes away to O'Reilly auto parts and bought a new battery cable end for 5 bucks. Back home cleaned up the battery terminals and wires. Installed the new terminal and all hooked up again, Yahoo the coach started and seems to be just fine. At least until till we get back home hopefully .
oops this is not good
new connection and all cleaned up
and works wonderful easy fix
Then I whipped across  the road to Walmart for a few veggies and picked up a 5lb chicken for supper to cook on our Weber Q only .97 cents a lb , yes we do love our chicken especially for this price.
So many kids is this park having fun. nice to see
after a winter away with seniors
awesome weather and the campground is very busy
74F and shorts this afternoon
our nice pull through site
Love the views here and our Weber ready to go.
Neighbours beside us Tim and Linda from Ohio invited us over for Happy hour, always nice to meet new people in our travels. What a very nice friendly couple. We shared lots of stories and conversation, They were heading out for dinner so we tried not to keep them too long And came home to preheat our Weber and cook up this wonderful chicken for supper. We had a mini rose bush I bought Suzie for Valentines day that we cannot take across the border so she gifted it to them, they have a house and can take it , thanks guys.
Tim and Linda what a super couple
they are leaving in the morning,
hope we meet up again
Got our chicken on the Q and we enjoyed some reading time outside loving this wonderful warm weather. Had my shorts and sandals on for  a few hours today sure was wonderful.
just over an hour our chicken was perfect
added to our salad sure hit the spot
more leftover chicken
and another pot of soup soon
Then I took our garbage out and caught a nice sunset right here, what a great way to end a short travel day .
wonderful sunset for a wonderful day
That was it for a short travel day, Got our battery issues fixed for now and can enjoy a nice relaxing evening here with some great weather again for a day or two.
     Thanks for joining us today.
And yes Jeff as you know we enjoy this area.
119 Miles today

  1. A little engine oil on those posts will help a lot. Stop all that rust and carrion. Just a few drops and the engine vibration will spread it all around and stop all that nonsense in it's tracks.
    Safe Travels,

  4. When RVing it pays well to be reasonably tool handy doesn't it. My two hand tool boxes probably weigh as much as most all of my other stuff. But they have paid their way over the last twelve years on the road.

  11. That was a short travel day. Good job on finding the cause of the RV issues. Guess you might have to check those batteries more often. 20 year old cables, amazing. Never knew about adding oil to them.

    1. I check the batteries all the time and knew they were getting corroded, was going to cleaned them here, but the rough road finished that one off. A bit of oil or even vaseline will help protect them from corrosion.
