A very nice winter day again, shorts and sandals most of it in the sunshine.

Where are we today ?

clic a pic to enlarge it
Another good desert sleep 42 F at 4:30 this morning and a beautiful starry night tome cloudless sky. My first walkabout for 2 miles as the sun was rising, a great way to start the day before it gets too hot.
as the sun is rising
here it is !
Then back to RV lifestyles to exchange a strut for another, this compartment needed a 60 lb one not like the others that have 10 lb ones. Then the Roadrunner market for a few supplies, and got a 1/2 of a fresh turkey (9 lbs) they cut it for me only 10 bucks , so you know whats on the menu tonight, putting our Weber Q back to work again. It was cheaper than a whole chicken and we will have lots more leftovers to enjoy as well.
I do like this market they do have most of what you need
some deals but not a lot
For lunch reheat our leftover pizza from Silly Al's the other night, Reheats perfectly in a fry pan. on low with a lid.
just like it was fresh made
Back home, installed the new lift, only took 5 minutes, then a light lunch, then got a few containers to add some fresh water to our tank, it was getting a little low. Easy to top up using my extra 12 volt water pump.
That all taken care of in the morning now we can enjoy another very nice warm sunny day outside getting caught up with our page turners. I finished one book and started another by Robert Crais, more detective fun stuff with Evlis Cole. Afternoon temps got to 67F and much warmer in  the sun our coach protecting us from the north wind, loving this weather.
another wonderful sunny warm day
another good page turner
this be our 9 lb 1/2 turkey
put on shortly after 2 pm
medium and slow on a trivet
By 5 pm it turned out perfect
we enjoyed this sunset that was trying to give us a show
pretty good about 5:30 tonight
Supper was very tasty our salad, turkey and some Turnip we had in the freezer from our Thanksgiving feast in Ontario.
we do love our poultry on the Weber Q
A nice relaxing desert day here we both enjoyed soaking up the sun and puttering around. I got just over 3 miles walked today so feeling pretty good.
When the sun goes down here in the desert the temperature drops, so we are inside for the night. Will be warm overnight with some cloud cover temps probably in the mid 50's F Almost summer weather, but a cool couple of days a head.
Thanks for dropping by and hope y'all enjoyed you winter day as much as we did.

  1. I bet it's nice to be in Quartzsite again. Lucky for you. Looks like lots of room.....for now.
Ah, so you do the turkey on a trivet! I just put mine directly on the BBQ mat and it overcooked on the bottom. I learn from the master! :-)

    1. Alway love Quartzsite, not so busy and always lotsa room you know that.
Yes Dave just a small bakery cooking wire rack ( I call a trivet) covered with foil so so it does not burn on the bottom let the air circulate.

  3. I also need to learn from the master. George would you be so kind to show us some time what your trivet for the Weber looks like. I tried also a turkey on the mat and it did not turn out. Have done it at home on the rotisserie, but with the RV do not have the luxury. Thanks in advance.

    1. I will take a picture and put it on Saturdays posting. The mat works great for some things but not something real large that needs to cook for a long time. So a little air space works to help het it more evenly. We don't have a large BBQ so I can make do with this wonderful Weber Q.

  5. That turkey sure looks good and you don't wrap all the way just sit it on the foil? I have a big turkey breast in the freezer and this made me think I should put it and in BBQ take a few days to defrost so that should give me time to see and answer from you.

    1. I guess you could wrap it, I want the skin crispy. Set it on a foil covered trivet or bread cooling rack, and a piece of foil under that too, so that it does not burn on the bottom, I set my heat an the Weber about med to high, about 20 minutes a pound internal temperature 165 F, The more you open the lid the longer it takes, so don't be peaking.

    1. Al's Pizza is awesome . It was warmer cooling down a bit and a bit of rain, but sure beats the much colder snowy weather back home.

  9. Amazing what we can cook on our BBQ's. We only need to be inventive and use the trial and error method to find the best way. That is a huge HALF a bird. Happy turkey eating.
    Keep on enjoying the desert!!!

  11. Turkey is a good choice. Often we think it is only for Christmas and such but it is good anytime. I actually like the turkey sandwich the day after.
