Moving on down the road, enjoying a leisurely drive heading to the southwest.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Up early this morning after a very quiet night, got the coffee and computing taken care of then a walkabout the parking lots and the store just because I could, nice and early. No rush today only going 250 miles too another Walmart. Easy drive drive, hop on I-10 and keep going. Nothing exciting to see just a long road not much traffic so just set the cruise , crank up the Sirius radio 60's on 6 and just boogied right along. As many times as we have made this drive on I-10 the scenery never ceases to amaze me all the same but different. Stopping at all the rest areas to stretch and The Sonora one at 11:30 to make lunch.
Heading out of town
I-10 a nice quiet drive
speed limit 80 MPH 130 kph
our coach likes to cruise at 66 MPH

on these roads
Sonora rest area for lunch
Love this rest area a nice stop
moving on down the road
Next rest area love the restrooms here very nice.
inside the restrooms
more of the same quiet roads
looks like pyramid
Pulled into Fort Stockton and the Flying J to top up our gas in the coach. Wow what a difference from yesterday $2.60 a gallon but diesel $3.69 .
Then from there  just a couple of miles to the Walmart for the night at 2:30 pm. Last time we parked here was back in 2011. Not a large store but works for us and right where we want to be for the night.
We whipped into the store to check it out and Suzie even went with me. She is looking for something in clothes. Took her all of 5 minutes to not find what she was looking for.
Back out to our coach and relax a bit enjoying our reading, some computing and the sunshine, Only 60F but that is fine we don't do like these people across from us set up camp! Jacks done, lawn chairs out even their BBQ, This is not proper Walmart etiquette. They could spoil it for the rest of us.
they set up camp here in the parking lot!
Chairs BBQ not good
we have a quiet spot for the night
Then time for supper this seafood salad Suzie wanted .
Then fish and chips we can do in our propane oven for a nice change.
a nice walmart sunset tonight
this was a very reasonable fish an chip dinner we enjoyed and
enough left for another meal in the freezer
We had a very nice relaxing day making our way across I-10 no real rush just enjoying the scenery looks different every time we drive it.
Thanks  for taking a peek and really hope y'all had a great day too.
only 250 miles today

  1. You're right, it takes people like that in a Walmart to spoil things for everyone else. LOL
Hey! You're parked behind a Mobile Suite at Sonora rest area....wrong colour truck though. :)

    1. It only takes a few people to spoil it for others. Was wondering if you would notice that Mobile Suite

  2. A few 'Urban Boonkockers' are making it harder for those who really just need a safe place for a single night. Most Walmart stores fit that, nobody would say WM is a favorite, but we've all used them. I'll go shopping with Suzi!, Fran can take hours to not find anything ....

    1. Walmarts are not our favourite either but works for a safe overnight stop like you said, these are not campgrounds. Suzie does not like shopping but sometimes she just has to do it and knows exactly what she wants.

  3. Love the rest areas, very nice. Walmart is a great stop for certain things but not setting up camp. Lots of miles in the last few days. Safe travels.

    1. There is some very nice rest areas on this long road through Texas. just making tracks to get out west a longer travel day today. If we stop at Walmart always buy something.

  4. Nice Rest Areas. Like you said people that set up camp at Walmarts will ruin it for everyone.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  8. You're getting closer. When we stop at a WM we try to find a place where we can put our slide out over the grass so we can get to the bed. But we certainly don't put out chairs or a bbq. Good grief. Suzie and I shop alike. I know what I want and it takes about five minutes to either find it or get out.

    1. We don't need to open our slide a wonderful feature we have with our coach. These are not campgrounds.

  9. I love it when the highway is almost deserted. I rarely stop at Walmart any more. It's sad that some people have to ruin it for the rest of the group by setting up "camp". I guess they figure Walmart OWES them.

  10. Loving the absent cars on I-10, brings back memories also the rest areas you stayed at. Been there, too. You come up with good food ideas even if not cooked all from scratch and it always looks appetizing on your plate. Safe travels.

  12. What a great drive! We were at the Walmart in Carson city the other day. They have signs posted of no overnight parking. From the amount of RV's that were there, it obvious they let you stay if they choose. One of the RV's had their bar b q and charcoal and chairs out..I said the same thing, that they are really overboard..especially with the no over night signs posted. Too bad some people just don't get it. Your dinner did look awesome once again!

  14. Wal Mart is already starting to change their policy on overnight stays. We ran into two that would not allow over night parking on our way down.

    1. There is always a few that do not allow overnight stays we have run into many over the last 13 years. We just phone ahead to make sure.

  15. Do not know what Suzie is looking for in clothes, but things like underwear, socks, and tee shirts we shop for new in regular stores. However, things like denim jackets and jeans, pull over sweaters, light weight jersey hoodies we find at consignment shops and (would you believe it) Goodwill stores with names like Levi, Ralph Lauren, Polo, etc. Some have the store tags still on them. Since she is a diminutive size lady, she should have no problems.

    1. Thanks for the tip Dee.
She knows what she wants and we always check out thrift stores etc. Have got some deals. We picked up a couple of hoodies a couple weeks ago at a Walmart for less than 10 dollars. I got a couple of pair os shoes for 5 buck retail for well over 100, and a suit for 10 bucks,

  16. You'd suck the fuel tank dry in no time driving at 80mph. Good thing 66mph is where your MH is happiest. :c)

    1. You are right would really suck back the fuel, 66 works for us and still average our usual 7.2 mpg no problem.
