A much warmer night for sleeping with some windows open 48F at 5 am. When the sun was rising, (almost) at least daylight I took nice walkabouts this wonderful desert area among the cactus and creosote bushes. I could here some of the burrows and saw traces of them but never spotted one. Even heard a few coyotes as well.

this where we are |
|
almost a sunrise then went undercover |
|
love the quiet desert walks here in the early morning |
About 8:30 I took a quick trip into AJO (pronounced Ah-ho), Stopping at Olson's (IGA) especially for some of their very good store made Chorizo. Oh so very tasty I will be making some burgers just for me.
|
really love this grocery store |
|
typical in the desert, A on the desert mountain for AJO |
From there to the town square to check out the small Saturday morning market, a few veggies, homemade baked good and crafts. May as well stop and check it out while I am here.
|
looks wonderful here in the square |
|
a few vendors to check out |
|
cool musical instruments he is playing |
|
visitors' centre |
Back home by 10 am still no sunshine, but just enough to charge our solar system slowly. By noon the temperature did get up to 63F and would be wonderful if those clouds went away.
Got a few more walkabouts done just enjoying this desert scenery.
Then back home just after noon. The sun came ourt and it was hot! Only 72F in the shade but in the sunshine amazing. I got my shorts, t-shirt and sandals on for almost 4 hours . Enjoying my e-reader. and between chapters puttered around for a while.
|
no shorts for Suzie but she needed shade |
|
our afternoon view |
Puttering around I found some scrap plywood to cut up and see what we could do to get the right height for my new recliner. This is what I need 1 and 1/4 inch raisedfor it to sit level.
|
this works for now |
When we get home in the spring I now have plan to make it look nice and pretty for Suzie.
|
those 4 bolts were for the old chair and will use then to secure this one eventually |
More reading done, enjoying this wonderful weather, discussing some plans and our happy hour. Time to whip up supper as the sun was beginning to set,
Tonight going to fry up some crab cakes we bought in Biloxi, earlier this fall at a great fish market , couple of garlic shrimp to go with our very tasty salad.
|
quick easy and so tasty first time for the crab cakes and we both enjoyed them |
|
That was it for our day yummy |
Just after 5: 30 the sun set and time to head inside. Typical desert weather, the sun goes down and the temperature really drops. We had whole day of fresh air so we are ready for it.
As I have said before and will again , thanks for dropping on by and hope y';all had a great day as well.

Where have we been this Winter?
We do enjoy that area, also. Still hoping we will make it there before the New Year. A nice place to sit back and relax.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty town square in Ajo.
It is a wonderful area to kick back and relax, Hope you guys make it, Good luck with your jeep repairs.
DeleteBeatuful sunset pictures. I hope to get down to Ajo after the first of the year. Hope to get around to lots of palces in the New Year.
ReplyDeleteThanks JO, Ajo not to far from your place and a nice area as are a lot more for you to explore.
DeleteI would get kicked out of that town the way I pronounced it (grin). The sunrise and sunset pictures are very pretty. I never seem to be able to get good picture like those.
ReplyDeleteI am sure some one would correct your pronunciation very quickly and smile about about, friendly people here. The pictures aren't perfect but you get the idea. Wonderful desert vistas here.
DeleteShrimp and crab, now that's always a nice combination. We've used Coyote West (it has hookups and we wanted to run the AC) as a jump off point for Organ Pipe Cactus.
ReplyDeleteIt was a tasty combination we enjoyed.
DeleteI checked out CH west but much prefer east, much large and open spaces.
We don't come here in the summer so no need for air conditioning
When the temperature begins to drop in the evening, are you allowed to have a camp fire? Of course, there is little wood around to start a good camp fire, but maybe one of those camp fires fed by propane.
ReplyDeleteNo problem with campfires a few people here in tents and they have campfire fires for heat and cooking. Not sure where they get the would though.
DeleteI love those pink mountains in the evening. Looks like a nice little town ... those wooden boxes are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe desert sunsets can't be beat, another reason we love it here.
DeleteThose boxes are very nice.
Love that area! Spent hours wandering the desert round there. When do you get to Pilot Knob?
ReplyDeleteWe plan to be there on the 21st, hope you guys are still there.
DeleteWe are here for awhile, so we will see you.
DeleteAlways enjoy AJO also. Your last picture of your chair gave me a thought. It appears it has a single attachment point for its legs. If you know somebody in the machine shop business, pretty sure they could make you a square mounting plate(box) to fit the existing bolts from the floor to fit to the new chair where it attaches to the its legs. You would not need the existing chair legs.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful area to explore.
DeleteMy plan is 2 pieces of 1/2 inch plywood bolted to the floor , then when we get back home I can finish it the matching flooring we have in the coach. To make it look pretty.
I always enjoy your tours and pictures George. The desert flowers are so unique and beautiful. I love crab cakes but rarely have them. Looked good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining our travels and will see you guys soon. The crab cakes were very nice first time we have had them.
DeleteSupper looked good. Crab cakes would be a nice alternative for meals. Looks like you are enjoying the area as usual.
ReplyDeleteSupper was tasty and a nice treat.
DeleteWe are enjoying this area very much.
We enjoyed the little town of Ajo. Very quaint, the murals were of course fantastic. Enjoy the area.
ReplyDeleteThanks Guys, Ajo is a quaint town and was a boom back in the days when the copper mines were operational. We do enjoy this area as you know.
