Getting closer to Arizona.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another great sleep here at this Walmart in Forst Stockton, pretty quiet and up early as usual. Nice that the parking lots are lighted and secure. So got a couple of walkabouts before sunrise , and then at 7:45 sun up and we on the road only a couple miles to I-10 and another easy drive. One very long road right to Deming New Mexico. Arrived at 2:30 pm but with the time change 1:30pm.
here we are in New Mexico
the land of Enchantment
two of these high end coaches part here think they may be tour buses.
notice 5 air conditioners on the roof
One thing we really love about the interstate especially today very little traffic the first hour saw no trucks and only 3 cars passed us. A rest area every couple of hours to get out for a stretch and used the facilities easy off and easy on.
just set the cruise control on
Sirius radio playing and enjoying the tunes
not sure about the lines but
excellent roads today
Once we got to the junction where I-20 joins us then a bit more traffic and trucks but moving right along no slow downs all day. At 11 am stopped at a rest area just before El Paso and made a bite to eat for lunch.
here we are 10 and 20 El Paso is where we will go
just cane from San Antonio
looks like army atvs
Suzie enjoying reading on this long boring road
this be a cute water tower for Patsy
Coming into El Paso long the roads no construction , much better than 12 years ago.
so pretty looking
Then just slipped through El Paso, so nice that most of the construction is done and 3-4 lanes all the way through no slowdown here at all and light traffic on a Thursday at noon. A bit of construction at Mm  13 for a couple of miles but moving well. Then stopped at the Flying J in Anthony Texas another great price for gas $2.08 a gallon so topped up  and made our way into New Mexico through Las Cruces to Deming, always a nice stopping point for us have stopped here too many times to count over the years.
a bit of construction but moving well
Suzie is doing what she needs to do right now
another small water tower
Now we know we are in New Mexico. Dust can and will happen we know have been in a couple over the years.Just get off the road and wait until they are done.
Now we stopped and parked our coach at the Walmart in Deming NM, right under a "no Overnight Parking sign" hmm. Ok inside to see the manager and she told us ok to park an RV here over night at the west end next to Wendy's , under that sign, just no truckers. They park at the east end of this lot, nice that we are separated. Lots of trucks and lots of Rv's but we are by ourselves.
we checked and can park here
Now we can relax enjoy our Happy Hour and do some reading.  Even got a few walkabouts the parking area and the Walmart picked up a 5 lb chicken, 5 bucks for tomorrow night's supper on our Weber Q in a campground.
a nice Walmart sunset just before 5 pm
Supper tonight the rest of our chicken pot pie and a salad. Quick easy and is tasty.
this hit the spot tonight
We had a great travel day a lot on miles done in a short time. Relax for the night and a bit further on down the road tomorrow.
Thanks for dropping in today we having a ball as usual and hope you did as well.
340 miles today

  1. I believe the highway stripes are brine spray to prevent snow and ice buildup that is expected tonight through the weekend .A preventative measure . I'm enjoying your travel. Thank you for posting. 😀

  4. Good driving day. Colin and I have a rule that we both have to be alert and watching the road so no reading nor dozing for me. I read long ago that if one person in the vehicle is dozing that the other might get sleepy so we both stay alert. Sometimes I would love to be reading my book. Safe travels tomorrow.

    1. I have never had a problem staying awake and alert while driving. Some times i yawn a bit then just have some caffeine and good for the day. Suzie almost always reads unless I want her to watch some signs or traffic.

  6. Can't wait to see the chicken relaxing on your Weber-Q--so delicious looking. Glad you didn't BBQ it today, because I have to do blood tests tomorrow for my doctor and you would have enticed me to attempt to Weber-Q one. These doctors won't let you eat before the tests are done. But I'm free to do so by the afternoon on Friday. Are you going to do a special rub on the chicken?

    1. We do love our chicken on our Weber Q, good thing I don't BBQ in Walmart parking lots. Good luck with you blood tests, and enjoying chicken on Friday. I have found this GRUB RUB in Texas that we both really love, use on most meats we grill.

  10. There's a new bypass around downtown El Paso, called the Trans Mountain Highway. We used it last trip, downtown on I-10 used to be very congested and kinda tight too.

  11. Wow, you sure move along once you get going. I got ahead of you when you went on your honeymoon celebration. I stopped here in Texas at Magnolia Beach. Figured I would wait out the storm going through. Oh well Arizona is not going anywhere.
