Day after Christmas winding down and still lotsa sunshine and warm weather.

Where are we today ?

Christmas day was wonderful for us, And no supper last night of course  but we did watch an excellent dvd that Ron and Loree loaned us. Called Elvis Lives a 25th anniversary of his death. This was an amazing 2 hour show of 25 of his top songs with him singing and his original back up bands and signers, The technology was excellent and you could swear you were seeing him sing live, Shots of the original back ups as well as the same people playing and singing 25 years later. We were riveted to this show all the way through AND I did not fall asleep, it was that good. Filmed  to a sold out concert in Memphis in 2002.
This morning a couple of nice early walkabouts as the sun begins to rise on a nice crispy morning , but not too cold. Only 3.5 miles walked today.
We puttered around for a while then at 9:30 the bunch of us went play shuffle board. A fun game outside we only played one time before about 10 years ago. It was interesting and a good 90 minutes of fresh air. We lost the first 2 games badly but beat Patsy and Bill.  We got lucky? Or as Patsy said they let us win. That's her story and she is sticking to it matter we all had a good time, and a few laughs as well.
waxing the court getting ready
Patsy and Ron
we all having fun
After a light lunch I took drive down the dusty road past the LTVA area to the canal, where the wall to Mexico is , has been there for years.
there is the wall across the canal
this be the canal
looking west to the Imperial sand dunes
Then outside enjoying the sunshine in front of our coach blocking the wind 73 F this afternoon is nice but for the NNW wind maybe 20 mph. but still a wonderful afternoon to enjoy more fresh air and our page turners.
our view this afternoon
Then at 2 pm I opened this package of back ribs I bought the other day. Can't turn down a deal like this!.For  6.82 we got this wonderful huge side of ribs more than enough for two very filling meals. Maybe should have made it 3 meals. I prepped 1/2 the package (3 ribs each) to do on our Weber Q. for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog to right sidebar.
got these ready for our WeberQ Froze the other half
Then about 4 pm our friends joined us for Happy Hour in the sun and most of us out of the wind.
Rob and Patsy carrying on
Bill and Loree
Loree and Pat had to deal with the wind over there
but the sunshine was nice
We did the usual chatting and solving all the worlds problems . Then Ron joined us for a bit with Freddie.
always good for a few laughs
and Freddie being Freddie what a wonderful dog he is
About 5 pm they all headed on  home and I prepped our salad as the desert sun was setting, another great sunset it was.
right outside our door always wonderful
sunsets here
now to put the ribs on our grill mat with some
sticky tasty bbq sauce to give them a nice glaze
3 ribs each but so much meat!
fall off the bone ribs, were excellent
more than we could eat,
but leftovers are always welcome here
Just another wonderful desert day that we all enjoyed, with great weather and sunshine, Exactly what we are here for.
Thanks for checking us out and hope y'all enjoyed your day as well.

  9. The motor home is low enough to block a lot of the wind and I'm sure that helps in sitting outside.
Glad you enjoyed the game and that Patsy and Bill let you win a round.

  10. You sure are getting the weather you came to enjoy, I hope it continues for you. I drove onto the Imperial Water District property looking a section of the old 'Plank Road' that I heard was in the area. The Border Patrol had a nice observation post on a ridge near the border fence and on the section of road I was looking for. I was escorted out of the area ... never did make it up there!

    1. We are loving the weather a bit cooler today but no wind and we have sunshine. We saw the old plank road a few times years ago it is real cool, too bad you could not get to see it.
