Hey, we went to a Movie Theatre today was awesome!

Where are we today ?
Very warm overnight, windows open, fantastic fan running and we were quite comfortable for sleeping.
Up early as usual and raring to go by 5:30, but still dark out . So compute and coffee then walkabouts the resort, almost warm, sunny but very windy. The construction of the new cabins is carrying on, some landscaping being done, really pulling the park together.
nice cabins down by the lake
Our plan for the afternoon was to go to "The Grand Theatre" in Conroe to see the movie  Jack the Giant Slayer on a large screen in and actual movie theatre with Emile and Monique. Its been like 20 years since we have been to a movie theatre, but this sounded like fun. Special Tuesday pricing only $6.00 each. Good deal right? Ok never thought of popcorn and a drink thou. And we just have to have some of that to do the whole movie thing. $6.00 for a small popcorn (more than enough for the two of us) AND can you believe $4.00 for a bottle of water. Well guess we are from the dark ages, or probably thats why we stopped going to theatres.
Any who we headed off to the Grand Theatre only 14 minutes from our resort just before 1pm. But there was no signage for the place facing the road. Luckily we were early and after a rather scenic drive around the country blocks we finally did find it just in time for the 1:30 show.
this is the only sign and does not face the road
Jack the Giant Slayer
We did enjoy the movie experience thou. A modern updated version of Jack in The beanstalk. High back seating with semi reclining chairs, huge screen, digital sound, moveable armrests with cup cup holders and lotsa leg room. AND I was able to stay awake thru the whole movie too, bonus!
Now the plan was to go for a Pizza after the movie. The Pizza shack in Willis is a good choice, we were here a couple years ago. This time again did not disappoint. We shared a tasty caesar salad and a medium hand tossed pizza 'The Shack Special" excellent, just as good as the first time and we had some leftover for to tomorrow's lunch.
tasty caesar salad
yes we are having fun!
excellent pizza
Now tummies full, and time to head back to the resort, dropped Emile and Monique off, stopped a for cold beverage then soon time for us to head home. 6 o'clock already and getting cooler out.
beautiful blossoms on the their tree tonight
A fun daytime outing, to a movie theatre and pizza for supper. Just like the old days only now we do it in the afternoon instead of night, cause we can't stay awake after dark.
Thanks for dropping on by and enjoying the movies with us. Hope you had as much fun as we did!

  1. Movie prices aren't what they were 20 years ago. Sounds like you had a good time.

    1. Good deal for the movie but the concession is a lot worse than I remember it.

  2. I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theater. Terry's gone a few times with the kids but I haven't. It's been forever.

    1. Yes the snacks were more than the movie! But was worth it for a change.

  5. Looked like a nice way to spend the afternoon, always more fun when you do something that you don't do all the time. Sounded like a good deal too. I liked the look of the crust on your pizza. All in all seemed like the perfect day to me.
