A busy day getting things done and a very tasty venison stew for dinner and met another blog follower,

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it

Still over cast and drizzly 54F at  5am so up and at em for the day. Have things to do.
Then at 8 am took our car to Pettigrew's Garage in Plattsville for an oil change and check up before we hit the road. A few minor things need to be done, replace a leaking wheel cylinder, new gas filter and a new tire rod end, will be done in the next week or so when we have time and the parts are in.
Now for 11 am went to Vintners Wine works in Woodstock to bottle our wine. One that Suzie loves. A Green Apple Mist. Nice to get a good wine we like for 4 bucks a bottle. Gonna split this batch (30 bottles) with good friends of ours.  Dave opened this thriving business a few years ago and loves his job, he makes money by making other people happy! Now we have known Dave for about 30 years, our daughters figure skated together and we camped many places around Ontario, New England States, New York, Ohio etc.. for a lot of years.
this be the place
Dave greeted me and he was all set up to get this done for me. First we need to do the tast test, yup this is good. So I sterilized the bottles and together we labeled them filled them corked them and put shrink wraps on the corks. We chatted and got caught up and before I knew it we were done and I was out of there by 11;30. He had more customers coming in and was busy.
filling and corking the bottles
putting the shrink wraps on
then in the cases
we good to go for a while
very light and tasty
First on the agenda this morning, I am going to make a Venison Stew, we were gifted an nice large venison steak from friends Ron and Loree at Rock Glen resort, and thought today would be a perfect day to make this in the slow cooker. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. I got this all started and in the slow cooker by 7 am. But got frustrated (finally) with the broken plastic lid (a large hole and no handle) , So after lunch I went to the thrift store looking for a lid and broke down and paid all of $10.00 for one just like ours but looks and works like brand new. And as I was walking inside this lady said Hi George, don't think you know me. I follow your blog, It was Eva Cressman I think I met once about 20 + years ago she is related to Suzie. We chatted for a while and wished each other a good winter and safe travels.
a nuce large steak I cut into cubes
new crock pot on the right
this old plastic lid was toast
some nice country drives around here
from their deck our coach back in the yard
Now to relax outside with our e-readers until supper is ready, , hmm smells real good inside our coach.
Soon time to eat and it was all ready for us to feast. So tender and tasty, Suzie said it tastes like very tender beef. Ok now we have enough for another meal. Thanks to Ron and Loree for this tasty cut of venison (Bambi) we really enjoyed it, and will do it again.
nice quiet afternoon reading no  wind about 62F
now this was a tasty venison stew so tender
After supper back outside to enjoy some more reading while we can until 7:30 , Still 61F but time to head inside finish this posting and soon call it a night. Busy again tomorrow.
Hope you had a great day too and thanks for dropping in.

  1. It's nice to have all the prep work complete before getting back on the road. Nice looking stew too, even if it is Bambi in there!
Not sure about Apple Wine, but the east coast is known for their sweet wines. I'm the dry red type.

    1. Yes we want to get everything ready to go like we do every year. The stew was very tasty thanks if cooked properly the venison is quite nice.. This apple wine is not very sweet at all, just a nice light taste and only 7% alcohol.

  2. That plastic lid was not going to last more than a few days. Good deal on the $10.00 crockpot.

    1. That plastic lid is on my original crock pot that I had over 30 years, and for 10 years everyday in my restaurant, so it does not owe me anything at all. Now Just have to make sure I dint' boreal this glass lid,

    1. I remember you teasing me in the spring. Having used it more this fall, figured if I could find what I wanted for a good price I would go for it.
The stew was excellent and smelled wonderful inside all day.

  7. I love crock pot cooking! Ok you know me and wine..haha. Does he make the wine there and then when people come in he bottles it or does he have a stocked store? Or did you make the wine and then take it in to be bottled? Looks awesome and I would imagine no additives. Great looking wine!

    1. He makes the wine right there , pretty well any kind you would like, then I go in and bottle it. I used to make and bottle it myself for many years when we had a house, a few hundred bottles a year. We like the cook pot for some meals especially when it is colder outside.
